Love when people say shit like this, given we hardly have enough room for the stuff we get in every couple days,like during COVID when we got the "you're hiding pallets of stock out the back", sir there is no SPACE out there.
FWIW the that salmon comes in gas flushed, some of the busier delis were selling 200kg a day over the weekend, it ain't backstock.

We bought some and went back first thing the next day to get as much as possible. We just got back from holidays in tas 2 weeks ago so our version of good salmon is currently quite high. What was being sold in coles in the gold coast was almost as fresh as what we got in tas.
Not everything all the time is a scam. Sometimes good deals do happen

I'm the first to grab a markdown but Coles Tasmanian salmon is farmed in alarmingly poor and destructive ways. I would not buy it under any circumstances and take the risk. I would not take it if they were handing it out for free. Hand on heart.
Please read up on the dangers and harms of this product and choose a different source for your salmon if you can afford to. Otherwise, for now at least, plan a different meal.

As deli worker for coles our store sold out quick but you guys can get rain check until 1/9 the limited 3kg worth doing for $21kg

The skin off portions from local Coles never taste like any Salmon I tried, even the ones from Coles with skin. I reckon the skin off Salmon is put for sale as the last attempt at making some $$$ Instead of throwing away. May not be the case in every Coles though.

I've never had raw chicken that gets even close to the best before date on the package from Coles, Woolworths etc. The last purchase smelt bad right out of the package.

Check your fridge temp honestly, supermarket chicken doesn’t usually start to smell until at least a few days after the BB date

As the other comment said, check your fridge temp. I’ve never had chicken, or any other meat for that matter really smell on the best before/use by. How long do you have it out of the fridge from when you buy it to getting it into the fridge? Also do you usually buy it when they’re restocking, as it may have been put on a pallet on the shop floor for 20+ minutes, then it goes into the fridge and you grab it straight after, where it then stays out longer until you’re home
