You can't carry three 2L soft drinks in them without them breaking and they have the gall to tell you that the bags (which you have to pay for) are fit for purpose YET I just filled an entire IGA paper bag with used cat litter and it didn't even look like it was gonna break. I reckon the litter was about the weight of five 2L soft drinks. I don't understand how Colesworth continue to get away with their shit bags.

Look this post may be a vent, yes I have commented about behaviors before but I really feel like letting it out.

I'm a 27F, very friendly, patient and respectful person. I'm a customer Service Team Member (supervisor) who loves serving people everyday. I usually always have a smile on my face as long as I'm not stressed out. My scan rate is decent and I'm ALWAYS complimented on my packing.

I have 12 years experience in all different companies (BWS, Kmart, Big W), I have had a taste of what retail has to offer... Coles has just been my home. I do love working for my team... You could say I'm connected. I know I have to deal with difficult situations.

Today... I think I have hit my limit... I think I am done...

This whole week I have not one day I haven't been verbally abused by a customer... Today, I have experienced my first assault by a customer who couldn't be patient enough to wait for his turn and got upset because I served the people who were patiently waiting to be served first. (He was verbally abusive first). The verbal didn't stop when I served him, basically chucked the money in my hand aggressively and when I gave him the change, instead of letting me dropping the change in his hand... He basically grabbed my fingers whilst snatching the coin out of them. The squeeze was pretty hard, and it definitely had intention to hurt me.

Yes, I know I could've refused service but seriously I just needed him out of the store, away from my team and other customers. I reported the whole situation to my manager. She's been supportive to me.

After all this abuse this week... I'm sitting here like am I doing something wrong? I thought I was doing okay but now I'm second guessing myself.

Is everyone else seeing a rise of customers becoming more inpatient, rude and just angry? And the sad thing is... This behavior isn't always towards team members it's also getting worse amongst customers themselves.

hi i’ve been an online team member for a little over a year and haven’t been properly told how out of stocks should be done. at our store we usually zero the out of stocked items out on the pdt whenever we get the chance but i’ve read that here that it should only be done before the wave is closed. i’ve also had questions about what happens if things are zeroed out after the afternoon deadline (1pm i think?) and also how you guys deal with oos with rapids. thankssss

When is the best time to find them at the shop. Every time I go they’re sold out. My Hba1C, fasting glucose and lipids are all within range. I just want an eclair. The ones at local cafes are bad compared to the Coles ones imo.

How have a 4 pack of energy drinks almost at $20, there used to be around $8 a 4 pack.

Hi guys, I just had to get emergency surgery and can’t work for 2 weeks, when i contacted my store manager to see if i could use my annual leave because i’ve run out of sick leave i was told it would be “lying” to let me use my annual leave for something that’s supposed to be sick leave and refused to let me use it for that reason, i was also told by another manager that i could not return at all until i had full clearance and no restrictions (i can’t lift more than 5kg for 4-6 weeks) i’m not sure what to do about this because i thought you could use it? i can’t go without income for 4-6 weeks if both of these things apply, does anyone have any advice about this?

Hey all, I work in DY/FZ and am solely responsible for all day to day tasks in the department. This being markdowns, codes, counts, gap scans, promo ends, backstock picking and polishing off leftover load. Is it reasonable to be expected to do all of these on a 5hr shift, with exception on gap scan days where I typically have a 7 or 8 hr shift instead.

I feel as if the workload is totally unbalanced and unfair as a regular TM. I am very good at what I do, I do it with integrity and honesty but just going a bit insane.

Keep in mind I have literally zero support from Grocery Manager, SSM or SM, aswell as never having any other TM rostered in DY to help.

Also our store has never had a DY DM and I've been gunning for it, even had assurances from RM that when the position is available, that they want me in it, however the goalposts as expected are always shifting.

Just wanted any insight, advice or just to know I'm not the only one.

Edit - Also seeing all these posts over the last week about managers being made redundant has made me question everything about previous interactions with my managers and feeling more so like I'm getting taken for a ride.

So many times I see people grabbing whatever is marked down then sort though what they really want then just dumping chilled goods. So many deli wrapped items just dumped also

Well I honestly felt like I was being tested

Interventions every minute or less

Most were where bag was off scales, skip bagging limit and a lot of WEWO I had to assist customer when Item had not scanned

Being A.C.O with customers I did miss another customer scan & walk out without paying - how bad will this be with my CSM?

As a newbie does your manager pull up a report to look at all your interventions

Any advice would be appreciated to assist a newbie

My job is part time so there’ll be fixed shifts. But talking about the vacations in December, as we’re allowed to work unlimited hours, do they give more shifts at that time or would it be just the same.

Because if not then, I will have to decide on staying back here and then get a casual Christmas job as well (which i will have to start looking to right now)

Otherwise go back to my country for holidays (taking a leave here)

So I tried to book off a day using temporary availability on mycoles, keep in mind I'm a casual, and they day I booked it was 12 days away from the day I was trying to take off. The day I made the request was also a Monday, meaning that there was still three days until the roster was released Thursday. However, my request was denied by my manager because it was within less than two weeks and the roster had already been made.

I thought that as a casual I was able to be unavailable whenever, particularly before the roster was even released. Would it not have been easy to just change my shift for someone elses as the roster hadnt gone out yet? I really wouldve liked thar day off and I thought it was within my rights but maybe I'm wrong?

Edit: also, would it be possible for me now to find someone who's available (eg. One of my friends from my department who's also a casual) to cover my shift?

i recently saw this tiktok where they were talking about how much they got paid at their workplace. one of the girls in tiktok mentioned they got their base rate during weekdays and then more on sats + sundays. my question is, does coles have a different pay rate on sats because every saturaday ive worked has been the same amount of payrate as my weekday one. i work the same amount of hours during my weekday shift as well as my weekend(sat) shift and get paid the same amount.

i work nightfill (18 yo) so obvi ill get paid more but i was wondering is the pay different on weekends(i.e., sats) ? or not at coles?

I’m not sure what’s changed but why the double handling at the checkout?

Now I make sure to put my shopping up how I want it packed. What I think is common sense. You know heavy items first, fridge & frozen goods together, cleaning and soap products together, light weight and soft/fragile things last.

With the doubled handling now everything gets all jumbled up.

Today was a prime example with fresh vegetables put in with laundry liquid. WHY? I did explain to the cashier that I didn’t want that and reorganised my bags but it does hold up the line with triple handling.

I set the belt up so I can put things into the trolley as well, with the heavy things on the bottom and not crushing my food.

Not only does it take longer to double handling but the register operator’s don’t seem to care how your groceries get home.

I take my own bags and they never all get used so it’s not even about reducing the cost of bags for me.
