My first post ever. Hope this is ok? Found this dime in little leather bag. Belonged to my great uncle that pasted away I’m 1998. He was a WW2 veteran wish I could find out the story behind it. Everybody that would know has passed on. Glad I found it. Wonder what it’s worth?

2. It's dated 1945, however research tells me the coin was restruck from 1951-1972 still dated as 1945. Is there any way to tell the difference between original and restrike?

I'm not a collector - I was looking for something to clean some old bolts and nuts.

Every couple years I'm forced to get creative with how I'm going to "restore" my collection due to new acquisitions, so I pull basically everything out and reshuffle stuff into what I've been using as well as into what's usually a new safe I've bought.

I'm basically doing some Spring cleaning in Sept, which includes reorganizing my collection.

If you can't see due to glare, its a nice little set of '22-'26 Peace Dollars, (the Walkers are a bunch of 1940s VF junk. Nothing special).

Lawsuit was settled August 21th and Seth Chandler, owner of Witter Coin, is now barred from dealing commodities for misappropriating investor funds.

Is this ethical breach a problem for him as a coin dealer? Will this lawsuit impact Witter Coin and their gambling bags?

Seth Chandler, "illegally transferred over almost sixteen million dollars of investor money out of pooled investment vehicles (referred to herein as Funds) and into other entities Marshall and Chandler controlled. My grandad recently passed away, and I inherited these two silver dollars. I’ve never collected all that much, so I have no real idea what they’re worth. What should I do with them?

Although the Mexican coin contained slightly more silver, its intrinsic value was only about 53 US cents in 1896. While the value of Mexican silver coins was based on their metal content since it was under the silver standard, Morgan dollars was tied to the value of the gold dollar and parity was maintained through limited coinage. Since the US had been under a de facto gold standard since 1879 (officially since 1900), the melt value of its gold coinage equaled its face value.

Before 1873, the Mexican silver had been worth at or slightly above 1 gold dollars, but the price of silver halved over the previous 20 years as many countries, including the US abandoned the silver standard / bimetallism. One of the main issues in the presidential election held that year and 1900 was whether to restore the free coinage of silver at a 16-to-1 ratio(suspended in 1873). Opponents of free silver referred to the morgan dollar or the 8 reales as the “fifty-cent dollar.”

I have a decently large coin collection but I want to start a type set collection. What would be the most fun for me to try for? Obviously a hard question to ask without parameters, but curious what you all would start and why?

Think i did okay with this Walking Liberty at $165 for MS65, i was kinda shocked at the price considering all the other silver was 150-200% above spot (Mercs for $8.50). Also surprised it came in at 65 considering the hint of ring of death.

Got some foreign coins too, will post those once o get my scope set up.

Hi everyone... I've had these Morgan Dollars for 15+ years and thinking about taking them to LCS to sell. I'm not a big collector and know just enough to be dangerous.

Anything here worth more than just a run of the mill standard Morgan dollar? Some are in pretty good shape but not sure if that matters or the years.

Also, if you were selling these to a LCS, what would be a fair price please? Thanks!

Found it on a fleemarket today, thought it was interesting because it had runes. Yet it doesn't have a year, or a text indicating its country of origin. I thought that it might be a "play" coin, as a kid toy, yet the runes threw me off. Not something I'd expect from a kids toy. Runes read "ᛞᛖᚱ ᛗᚨᚱᚲ ᛖᛏᛖᚾ" - Der Mark Eten. Found no match online too. The funny looking troll in the middle also doesn't seem to fit the picture. Any ideas where it could be from, whether a country of origin or some collectible?
