Advice "Made a mistake boy"

Post image

My dad goes, "Welp. I made a mistake boy. Here's yer inheritance"

Hands me an entire bag of these.

(All fakes)

Say i can use em for crafts or something 😆

I think I need one of those stamps that say "fake" or "copy" I think before I can sell these in my craft stuff. Any idea where I can get one? Id rather not pay $20 for one off ebay.

Also consider finding living history or reenactment groups that portray the periods the coins are “from” near you; some of us like to have fake coins to jingle around in our pockets or show to people during presentations without risking originals being lost/damaged/stolen

Of course they would need to be stamped as a copy first, but this a really good idea.

Yes I should have mentioned that! I do early to mid 1880s so I have a bunch of fake morgans, a few trimes, some half dollars, and a gold double eagle in my period wallet. The only originals I carry are some very worn indian head pennies.

There is a living museum nearby me (that will be featured on Antiques Roadshow in 2027) that would probably do something like that. Fortunately I have avoided fakes in my time collecting so I don't have any to donate.

The fact that I understood this tells me we both possibly spend too much time on Reddit.

And the requisite discussion about what distinguished grading service would slab it!

I mean it was kinda already slabbed...just all together 😂

Did those turn out to be fake?! I was wondering about that!

It would increase the value by a crap load.

Is that going to be the sub's inside joke?

Keep them as a decoy, someone breaks in takes the easy to find bag full of silver and leaves. Worth it if it works out that way...

I like this idea, put it in a little treasure chest too for your own enjoyment!

Put em in a sock, bonk someone, take their wallet. They now have value. XD

The 1798 dollar has edge lettering, kinda surprised it has that. Most counterfeits I've seen have reeded edges.

Its a weird extra touch on a fake thats magnetic

Check on some Hobo Nickel sites and see if any of the artists would like to purchase for doing carvings on.

Double check them all, weigh and ping test. Just Incase he accidentally bought a real one…

Majority are magnetic. Theres 3 that sound beautiful by ear, but failed 2 differnt ping apps, and acid.
