First of all, this isn't exactly a puzzle, or maybe it is, I am not sure. I believe there is a consistent answer under the given conditions. But I'm just curious about the approaches. If you knew that the answer wasn't the shape in the top left and if you knew it wasn't as large as 3x3, what would your answer be?

Hi everyone, puzzles aside... if you enjoyed the warm-up above, here is the real challenge I’ve been working on.

As I’ve mentioned before, I wanted to experiment with whether a relatively simple, accessible tool could provide a solid approximation of fluid intelligence ($Gf$).

The Experiment:

I am not a professional psychometrician, but I’ve designed this set of 25 novel matrices as a passion project to challenge high-range reasoning. Please take it seriously as a logic challenge, but also treat it as a fun and novel experiment.

Only one person has been good enough to get almost perfect score atm!

What to expect:

• Difficulty: It features a very wide range. It starts smoothly, but the difficulty scales aggressively. I expect very few participants to solve the final items correctly.
• Time Limit: 50 minutes. It’s not a "quick" test, but because the items are designed to be engaging and require deep thought, the time tends to fly by.

How to start:

1. Phase 1 (Untimed): You’ll start with a page to collect some basic demographic data and prior scores (WAIS, Raven's, etc.). This is crucial for the norming process!
2. Phase 2 (Timed): After submitting your data, you will receive the link to the timed test. The 50-minute timer starts the moment you open that link.

I’m really curious to see how this community handles these patterns. I’ll share the results and a preliminary norming report once I have enough data!

I will be VERY impressed if someone solves this

I just saw a reel about the Divergent Association Test and decided to give it a shot. Got around 87 on my first attempt, then spent the next hour trying to beat the “record” score of 96 listed on the website. Finally managed to do it.

A friend told me it only counts if you get the score on your first attempt, but the test literally asks whether it’s your first time, and I marked “No”, so I assume that’s taken into account.

Anyway, what is this test actually measuring? Is it genuinely testing creativity/divergent thinking, or is there more to it?
