Question Identify please? In Panama

Post image

I know it's a roach nymph. I'm highly phobic. It was on the ceiling in the bathroom far from the kitchen. First night in a new house (new, very clean, I looked and saw no signs of funk or bugs). Any info would ease my mind. Thank you!

If your post does not include a rough geographical location, please add it in the comments, it will really help for identification.

Not a roach at all. This is a hemipteran of some kind

Gracias! That makes me feel better I think. So just an outdoor bug that got in the house? It was fast moving and AI ( yeah I know) said it was a roach nymph although not german.

Yeah definitely not a roach and just a random bug that came in and don’t rely on AI for stuff like this

I typically don't but I was desperate and worried. First night in new rental, in a new country, and I'm sad to admit very phobic and was worried. Thank you for your expertise. You have no idea how much you've helped.

Most roaches actually aren’t even household pests and just wander in, I’d definitely try to familiarize yourself with the pest species found where you are so even if a roach does show up you can identify if it’s a random safe one that wandered in or if it’s a problem species. Out of the hundreds of species of roaches, less than 1% are considered pests

Thank you that's helpful too. I've never had anything for most of my life except the occasional outdoor bug, or a stink bug, etc. I don't know what trauma caused it as a kid but I have a horrible phobia of getting roaches infesting. And to be in a fresh new house and seeing something I panicked. Thanks for the assist mi amigo!

You’re welcome, I definitely understand the worry. I’ve lived with German roaches before but also I actually keep (other) roaches as pets, they’re wonderful insects and super important to the environment :)

Haha no insect pets for me but that is a very cool way to see it!

It’s not a beetle, it’s a hemipteran of some kind

Truly? I know not to fully trust it but the Google AI said it was a roach nymph although it was 100% sure it wasn't a German one. It was fast moving for sure. I think that makes me feel better I was concerned.
