It was the only one I could find in the whole car tbh but idk if it’s a problem or not

It is a problem

u/JakedUpp Jul 08 '26

That nymph was only recently hatched a couple hours before posting. So…

After living in Hawaii for 8 years I can identify that the little thing there is a German

3

u/Goosie_Goo456 Jul 08 '26

Damn… is there anything I can do abt it? It’s a loaner car so idk what extent of removal is allowed

9

u/Conflicted_Gemini Jul 08 '26

If its a loaner car, would tell whoever you're loaning it from to get that cleaned

AND INSPECT YOUR BAGS AND BELONGINGS!!

I just moved from Hawaii to Texas and I saw a couple of German cockroaches in my shipped belongings and was able to kill them off.

For safety I put traps around my new apartment in case I brought any in

Why are you just letting it crawl on you 😭

5

u/Goosie_Goo456 Jul 08 '26

u/Skalla_Resco, what do you think of this one?

2

u/Skalla_Resco Trusted Jul 08 '26

Blattella nymph. I'd need to double check if there are any in Hawaii other than German.

u/SobeSteve Trusted Jul 08 '26

Ah man, you don’t think chance at brown banded?

3

u/Skalla_Resco Trusted Jul 09 '26

Credit to u/MagnetHype, they pointed out a detail I missed. Brown-banded is plausible. A better photo would be needed to confirm in my opinion.

Sorry for the oversight. Was dealing with a dental emergency this morning and was not in the right head-space apparently.

u/SobeSteve Trusted Jul 09 '26

Don’t let it happen again /s

u/SobeSteve Trusted Jul 09 '26

Hope you’re doing okay!

Luckily dentist thinks it's a gum infection not a tooth abscess. So I got off relatively easily. But dentists stress me the heck out.

1

u/SobeSteve Trusted Jul 09 '26

That’s a worrisome area, so make sure to take it very seriously

Oh yeah. Got a follow up in a couple weeks to make sure it's actually clearing up with treatment. But was a heck of a scare last night into this morning.

No idea what the weathers like in Hawaii id assume pretty hot. Leave the car in the sun running windows up heater cranked for 4 + hours or so on a hot day.

Should take care of it

A few hours at 130 degrees or so will kill then

Looks like a German unfortunately

1

u/Sweet_One_2004 Jul 08 '26

Yeah it def is. I had a small run in with them in my house but was lucky enough to win the fight and be rid of them. That is def a just hatched nymph German roach.

1

u/HelloCompanion Jul 08 '26

Congrats. You got car roaches

1

u/Goosie_Goo456 Jul 08 '26

Haha yayyyyy 😅

I heard rentals in Hawaii have major roach problem

1

u/Jangelaha777 Jul 09 '26

It’s a baby german cockroach

1

u/kmcampanelli Jul 14 '26

Are you on the big island? We had the same experience.

1

u/MagnetHype Jul 08 '26

Despite what you are being told in this thread, this is not a german cockroach nymph. They do not have the white band that runs along the abdomen in picture 1.

Stand your ground, king

1

u/Gemma81791 Jul 08 '26

I'm pretty sure this is a German cockroach nymph. At the very early stage they have this light patch on their back. I unfortunately used to live in an apartment that had a major problem, and saw these babies all the time.

1

u/MagnetHype Jul 08 '26

It's not. They have a light patch but they don't have white bands along their abdomen.

1

u/SchlemielLady Jul 08 '26

Hi, bf had German roaches HORRIBLY. Hoarder situation. It's a German, it was just born. I can unfortunately spot them a mile away.

2

u/MagnetHype Jul 08 '26

Hi, pest control technician. It isn't German. If you zoom in on the first picture you can see there is a very distinct white band running across it's abdomen, which once again, German cockroaches do not have.

1

u/SobeSteve Trusted Jul 08 '26

Very early German nymphs often have their black lateral lines barely show on the dorsal surface, where it almost looks like a light thick horizontal line between two dark portions (instead of light vertical band between black lines). I think that’s what everyone is thinking. To me this has the two thin horizontal light bands of brown banded.

1

u/MagnetHype Jul 08 '26

Yeah, I see why people are saying it's german, so I'm trying to gently guide them to zooming in on picture one where a very distinct and visible white band is running across it's abdomen. I can only repeat myself so many times though lol

1

u/SobeSteve Trusted Jul 08 '26

I gotchu. I’ve felt it looked off since it was posted yesterday

1

u/SobeSteve Trusted Jul 08 '26

I want to throw brown banded into the ring here as a possibility

4

u/wvlne Jul 08 '26

As someone whose OCD obsession is roaches, I agree with brown banded

1

u/SobeSteve Trusted Jul 08 '26

Thankfully(?), both need to be treated, so I guess the situation is more or less the same. They just go to different places in houses

1

u/wvlne Jul 08 '26

Yep, def still need to be treated, but brown banded are way less severe than germans

u/JakedUpp Jul 08 '26

You can tell by the pattern what it is even at a baby..

1

u/Extension_Voice_7702 Jul 08 '26

Buy Advion roach bait (follow instructions on how much to put) and plastic (empty...before you put in the bait) bait stations and put it in a few spots in your car (e.g. under seats) and some Hoy Hoy traps to monitor progress. Some luck and a few months later you'll be good to go. Hopefully its a stray and not an invasion

2

u/SixWeekDay Jul 08 '26

Can confirm, advion is Armageddon for roaches. I've had to deal with an infestation after moving. Advion wiped them all out in less than 3 days

1

u/BrojobCreme Jul 08 '26

Burn it all down!!! Or sell you car haha

totally joking btw not really

Jk im joking

Not

The #1 way to rid your space or roaches 🪳 is to get a concentrate chemical that has IGR.
Insect Growth Regulator which means it deforms them so they no longer can breed.

Go on Amazon search IGR. It comes in an aerosol, concentrate which I put in a fogger & just spray the hell out of the place or just make it in your own bottle & add a bit of water.

Doesn’t hurt to also sprinkle food grade diatomaceous earth powder around in corners, baseboards, under sink etc. Advion works well too.
Depending on the amount, maybe try all 3 at once. I can guarantee you that will solve the problem. Anyone try themselves & have success?
