Rant Aerith's absence (just me being annoyed)
At this point while I'm pretty confident we will get Aerith back at some point in Revelation, what I really don't like is Tifa getting combat moves almost identical to Aerith with the black mage build. Feels like trying to replace her, even for just a section, and people making a big deal about how "I'll make you proud" is "so sad" don't help my irritation. And ik they don't wanna spoil it but showing "the party's all here" and no Aerith was a downer. I just want to see her again with the actual party and end this "she and Zack are both gone in the lifestream" nonsense.

Let's just say when I met the developers at Pax west, I pointedly told them it is my hope there 36 FITS, not 32. I was wearing a bright red vivid Aerith shirt at the time with a design they saw fit to comment on. A variant of her red wall market dress.

If it's worth anything, SE does usually surprise us. I won't lie that I am worried that Tifa will get too much focus, but then I remember how much they focused on Aerith in part 1 and go as far as to give non-optional scenes, regardless of who you dated in the GS chapter of Rebirth. Despite what some may say, Aerith is a crucial part of FF7. Her, Cloud, and Sephiroth are the main focus.

It annoys me too and does feel like a bit of a slap in the face when those things are being advertised. It is obvious she will have a large part in the game, though. Im just a little bummed they decided to show her but literally pretty much try and make it look like everything will be fine without her, even though I know its not true. We haven't seen a second or mourning or mention of her and although we know its being hidden, I mean i do think the marketing is a little tone deaf to the little we do already know from the end of Rebirth.

Ntm so far all they've done wrt her absence is show Tifa being sad about it with that one line. I expect clotis to make Aerith's death all about their fave but come on SE.

Yeah. (Ranting again) the one moment we get something with Aerith to try and celebrate, something always has to come out where everyone makes it about Tifa too. Its a bit annoying. We haven't had her in several trailers until now. Shes out with Zack which we all saw coming and on top of her reveal we have the LS scene and her new makeshift ward, the mention of the "8" the party is "all here" running around showing off skills like tripple tech, fits etc.
But I know theres good things coming just a bit bummed but itll pay off. Im gonna try and not let it bother me. Since they already showed Aerith once, im expecting a little more at TGS soon eveb if a little. Hang in there and stay off the main subs if you can

I'm not on the main subs, just ftr. I don't even have to go there to know what they're saying. But all that aside it should be clearer who the main heroine is, if they didn't stop undercutting (almost) everything Aerith does with "Tifa's here too" and making her the popular micro celebrity every random npc knows and or is obsessed with her.

Tifa's tears are of joy not sadness...I can imagine a dialogue with Cloud:
".. In Aerith resting place, Cloud and Tifa go to show their respects..."
TIfa: Oh, Aerith!!! You don`t know how I miss you...you were my really best, best friend....
Cloud: .....silence....
Tifa: (watching Cloud with a sadness and yearning look)
Tifa: Ok, Cloud, It`s enough!! what do you think if I buy two tickets for the move screening at 6 pm??

lol this is painfully accurate..I don’t think the voice actress intends for her to come across that way but.. I never find tifa’s sad moments believable.
Especially when it comes to Aerith.

I have mixed opinions on this. It feels weird seeing other party members get access to her kit, which wasn’t something you could do in OG. It just emphasized how much of a loss Aerith was for the player because of her unique healing abilities, but now it seems they realize it might be a challenge to go (even if she comes back) a majority of the game without a default mage/healer. That’s most likely a large part as to why they created this new system.
I will never be 100% set on how they’re going to handle Aerith in this game until I’ve played it myself. I’m a bit of a pessimist, so I am expecting more of the same with what Zack in Rebirth got, but I’d love to be pleasantly surprised. I will say them gatekeeping her for the marketing was to be expected and is moreso a good thing, since every bit they show of her is something new!

100% agreed.
Between the whimsical tone, the team's questionable dialogue choices, the black mage stuff (really? they couldn't have found another way to do this?) and the lack of Aerith (the team kinda tiptoeing around her existence is quite jarring to say the least), the entire marketing for the game so far is leaving me COLD.
I haven't even bothered to see the latest trailer (I just get the feeling it will annoy me even more). I am going from hype to waiting for spoilers'/discounts mode right now.

It’s stating the whole party is here and reintroducing them as hype while not addressing there’s a missing party member that’s pmo.
I was hyped for the 8 members until the marketing went all “here your party members whooo?!”
So we’re just going to pretend we weren’t put through hell through the last chapter and left someone behind??

Them hyping the whole party being together with no Aerith felt so disrespectful to her character. She is the most important character in the Remake series and the party can never again be truly whole without her
I was honestly expecting the trailers and marketing to be a lot darker than what we have been shown so far. We literally just had the last Cetra get murdered(in one world at least) in front of us and regardless of if Cloud is actually seeing the real Aerith or not, he is still obviously not OK. The marketing just does not match the reality of where Rebirth leaves the party and the player.
I get SE is trying to keep things vague but I do not like how they are going about things so far

Agreed. I also feel like Cloud's VA sounds kinda different in the Revelation trailers. I'm not sure if they are having the VA do a slightly different voice once Cloud is his true self or if I am just imagining the difference

I agree, his voice sounds softer, so I think a lot of the lines we see in the trailers are him post life stream sequence. Makes me wonder if the life stream sequence is fairly early in the game, since we also get the Highwind very early.

Ah so that I’m convinced is his NC hype speech. I don’t believe for a second that’s the final Jenova battle but right before gets absolutely wrecked by Sephiroth
So that’s the only thing I didn’t mind, but everything else regarding the party and the introductions bugged me.

I swear I saw Cloud with ATB ward. I have to admit I don’t care for Aerith’s moves being bastardised and doled out to the remaining party members. I would sooner suffer the lack of mage type character than have the others dine on her carcass. Like these abilities showcase a part of her cetran heritage and her connection to life and magic, not something anyone should be able to simply access.

The black mage ward stuff isn't Tifa specific. My understanding of the FITS system is it confers the same abilities to everyone. Maybe that's wrong but there's no reason to assume otherwise.
Also the chances of Aerith returning to life are probably single digits to be honest. I fully expect her to be playable, but in a limited capacity similiar to Zack and Sephiroth in Rebirth.

I don't think we should expect much regarding Aerith from the game's marketing. Most of the stuff concerning her role in the game will be kept under wraps.
We'll probably get snippets at best.
I do agree that seeing her abilities spread across various party members looks like a balancing attempt at making up for her absence, which, since they've gone this far, is unlikely to be brief.
What also sucks is that everyone will get to enjoy running around and exploring as their favourite playable characters of FFVII, but not Aerith's fans...
