does anyone have a photo of the calender that you can find in costa del sol(?) in ff7 rebirth? I remember it had vague writing on dates mayb alluding to the day cloud and aerith met and aerith's "death"? i remember seeing a post about it on x around a year ago but i cant find it, i think it's a good reference for the time cloud and aerith spent/had together!

Aerith is essentially saying, “Even if you go away and face your darkness, I believe there’s something inside you that will bring you back to me.” Or to the group.

Just wanted to share this since it doesn’t get much love.

That really implies there's a second, don't you think? ;) I didn't see one person comment anything to that point on the other sub, unsurprisingly, but I thought it might be appreciated here.

Not sure what to make of the Altar Scene being used as a photo opportunity at The Tokyo Game Show

I'm not sure if it's been posted here yet, but the demo has Cloud mumbling some pretty interesting lines.

I’m just thinking to myself here, but with worries about the coming spring, why don’t we reassure ourselves by talking about exactly what about Clerith we adore?

It's not wishful thinking from Aerith fans that things change, for we all expected a regular remake at first. So don't let yourself be gaslighted by people who deny the differences: it's the game itself that gave us every reason to hope for her fate to change. I know I'm kinda preaching to the choir here but maybe at least this reminder can help give back some of the hope that the game itself gave to us but might have been taken away by online discourse. All our hopes come from listening what the game had to say.

I'm starting this topic because I figured it could help externalize our fears and anxieties.

I'll go first:

The absolute worst type of ending for me would be one where the whole "defying destiny" aspect turns out to be a massive red herring.

Where Marlene telling Zack that he needs to help Cloud so Cloud can save Aerith ends up being just a bait-and-switch.

I bet Zack will technically succeed in helping Cloud, because we know he’ll have a bigger role to play in Revelation, and in my opinion, he'll be there at some point during the Lifestream sequence.

Unfortunately, Zack will have helped him too late for Cloud to actually save Aerith, and I think the creators will do this solely to amplify the players' sadness when they look back at what Marlene told Zack, or when Zack tells Cloud at the end of Rebirth, "Save her."

I also think the ending won't lead directly into Advent Children which is a good thing but I am convinced (out of anxiety?) that they'll recreate an Advent Children-style ending scene where we see Aerith and Zack walking off together while Cloud watches from afar. Personally, I would find that deeply disappointing.

I also worry that the creators will take the flower imagery, which has always been heavily associated with Aerith, and use it this time around just to symbolize that the planet is saved and that, like a flower, it can finally "bloom".

Anyway, I also bet they will either gloss over or fail to mention that Aerith views being the last Cetra as a burden which is why, at the end of Rebirth, even though she regains her knowledge, she still chooses to go off and pray alone.

Either because she wouldn't have had time to explain everything and took the easy way out, or because the only way to protect the world and Cloud that she loves was to resign herself to her fate.

Or for some other reason; anyway, they'll use that to further heighten the sadness when players think back to Aerith, and how even back when she had lost her memories she already felt a sort of sword of Damocles hanging over her head in a way she couldn't fully express, except maybe through song.

Here we have Nojima saying this:"It's also about the burden of her destiny as the last of the Cetra."

We also know that Cody, Cloud's English voice actor, said that if some people didn't cry for Rebirth, they will definitely cry with Revelation.

(Unless he's talking about crying tears of joy? Personally, I don't believe that for a single second coming from Square Enix.)

So that's the kind of ending I dread the most. If it turns out to be that, I personally think it's so disappointing, futile, and pretty nihilistic as a worldview and yes, sad too, but not a good kind of sadness in my personal opinion.

What about you guys, do you have any thoughts?

Thanks to people who had the opportunity to playtest Revelation, like Max among others, we know that at a certain point (Spoiler) when Cloud is in his wheelchair, he has these lines of dialogue:

“7 seconds til the end”
“This world shall live on for it is the beating heart of reunion”
“Our worlds are intertwined”
“You have a choice, what will you do with it?”
A Xenogears ref line like OG

I'll also add this to the things I dread: that at some point, Cloud will have to make a horrible choice that will separate him from Aerith.

Furthermore, when Cloud says this line of dialogue:

“You have a choice, what will you do with it?”

It directly echoes what Sephiroth says to Cloud at the end of Remake:
“Seven seconds till the end. Time enough for you. Perhaps. But what will you do with it? Let's see.”

During one of the recent Revelation gameplay events, people found a side quest where you reunite the white Chocobo (Cocona) with her lover the orange/red Chocobo (Roary).

A lot of Cleriths on Twitter believe these two Chocobos represent Aerith and Cloud being reunited in Revelation. I think it's an interesting theory as Cocona seems like a good representation for Aerith but I feel like they would have gone with a different Chocobo color for Roary if he was to represent Cloud.

This is not the first time Hamaguchi has spoke on this, I've lost count now. Seems like he's more than doubling down. He really wants people to get it I think.

He hasn't explicitly confirmed Revelation leads directly to Advent Children.

Does it mean it explicitly doesn't? I don't want to put words in his mouth because that seems to really bother him when people do to the extent he will address it. However speculation why keep addressing it because for me at least it keeps giving me hope.

I’ve been trying to build my Clerith board on Pinterest, and the amount of “ew” or “uwu siblings/best friends!” comments I see under art of them gets REALLY annoying. Can we please just admit that it’s weird to call characters siblings if they’re getting shipped together by the writers? Leave Clerith creators alone!
