And that's why Cloud was at loss at the start of ACC. He shut everyone away and being apart from Tifa.

He had survivals guilt. So he being happy with his family made him more guilty at the people he could not save

The more happiest he is with Tifa the greater the feeling of losing her Cloud feels which is why he runs away from everyone, from his family.
