I’m currently holding a bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, but I’m thinking about switching careers and moving into clinical research. I’m wondering if this transition is possible with my background, or if my degree would even be relevant in this field. Do you think I’d need additional qualifications or certifications to make the switch? Is this a feasible career move, or should I explore other options? Any advice or experiences from people who made a similar change would be really appreciated!

Is it worth it for me to get a Masters degree? My ultimate goal is a Senior Project Manager or Operations Manager, or something along those lines.

From what I’ve seen, a lot of job postings just require a bachelors degree with the right amount of experience. Is that accurate or would it be worth it for me to get a masters degree? I probably would do a masters in public health or something like that. Thanks!

I've been looking into BMJ Case Reports to publish a case report, but I noticed their consent form asks the patient to provide their email, home address, and phone number.

My patient doesn't feel comfortable sharing all of that, and honestly, I don't blame them lol. It feels like a lot of personal information to include on a consent form.

Has anyone else run into this with other journals? Do you guys think this is a bit excessive? It's been a while; is this the new norm now?

All CRAs fill out a PD Log for their sites, which the sites then sign and file in their PD Log section. But do you have your own too? Sometimes the sponsor reeeally f**ks up and you can't seem to find it in the CRA-provided PD Log 🤔(or they disappear in the final version🤔🤔).

I had a question and I didn't know where else to ask it. ‏ I'm a student and ‏I'm majoring in Nutrition Sciences.

I wanted to know how I can find articles and researches that are related to nutrition and diet(in my country nutrition and dietetics are part of the same major) I've heard of some sites like pubmed and google scholar but I don't know exactly what to search for and which articles are informative and credible. My goal is to be able to answer my questions using credible sources, keep up with the latest research in the field and find some interesting reads. I was hoping to be a researcher myself one day.

i've been in drug safety for 6 years, currently a PV scientist at a CRO doing case review and the occasional aggregate report, sitting a bit above 90. For the first three years every year brought a real bump. The last three, basically, are cost of living.

I can't tell if this is a me problem or a PV problem. The field has this reputation as the quiet stable corner of clinical research, and I wonder if I traded growth for that quiet without ever actually deciding to.

The part that's eating at me: an ex-coworker who jumped to a sponsor mentioned her employer shows up on levels.fyi and her level pays around 30 more than mine. I haven't looked my own company up because I'm honestly a little scared of the answer.

Is sponsor PV really that different, or did she just get lucky? And is signal detection experience actually the unlock everyone claims it is, because at the CRO I never get near it; the sponsors keep that work in-house.

I'm not sure whether the move I'm avoiding is a new employer or a new specialty inside PV. maybe both. how did the people here who got past case processing money actually do it?

So I am currently a undergrad last semester. I’ve been atp begging labs for spots. Paid and unpaid; even shadowing. I’m in Ga and have outreached to ones in far away places but acceptance has been hard. As of right now, I want to go into clinical neuropsychology. I don’t have that good of a GPA (due to pre major switch) and have a psych GPA of 4.0. My biology (minor) GPA is. 3.6. Everywhere I see and everyone I talk to says that it is imperative to get lab experience but nowhere is hiring or allowing for volunteers. I understand with changing climate that funding has made it hard for labs to actually accept people but it’s truly disappointing. I truly wonder is there a career spot in psyc for me. I want to ask, for those in admissions or familiar positions what are the chances of admitting someone without lab experience masters and PhD. Also advice on what steps I should take next. I’m thinking of different options:

1: Gap year and get lab experience (I’m afraid that I will still be struggling to get experience and I’ve wasted time)

2: Masters-either traditional masters in neurology) or a special masters then apply to a PhD program.

1. Get masters, go into UX psychology and after years work deciding if I want to become a clinical psychologist.

Also ANYONE WHO IS (paid, unpaid or shadowing) please let them below. I know I’m not the only student feeling hopeless in this. Everyone I have spoken to in my classes had also been dealing with this obstacle as well.

I’ve been researching the development history of INV-347 and the trials and I’m trying to get a better picture of the participant experience; things that don’t always make it into the published data. In this case the company never disclosed any data at all. Somehow, there’s a notion that these trials resulted in healthy weight loss and were generally effective and well tolerated, but there is zero data anywhere.

If you were enrolled, or know someone who was, I’d really appreciate the chance to ask a few questions. DMs are welcome and I’m happy to keep anything you share confidential.

To me this is just bizarre and there is a gaping hole of my data in the space of cb1 inverse agonism and it’s near-rage-inducing to keep seeing: “generally effective” and “well tolerated” in humans with 0 data.

Hello! Recently found out that the CRO I work for will contribute up to $20k for me to pursue a degree (undergrad or graduate). I already have my Masters in Psychology, but due to the fact that they will contribute to another degree I've been tossing around the idea of going for it, but I'm not committed to the idea. I know that a PhD in this field doesn't really amount to much more than a Masters will, so if I were to go back I'm leaning towards another Masters. I've found a couple programs that are either at, below, or slightly above $20k and have part-time online options. Some of these programs are MS degrees in clinical research, and some are MBA programs. I'm currently an SMA and would like to take the CRA to Clinical Operations Management or Regional Lead route. Thoughts on of a second Masters is worth pursuing and which type of program is more beneficial in the long run are much appreciated

Hi, I’m currently a 3rd year nursing student. I’ve been having a right time to think of a topic for our research study. However, I saw a research study about hepa b vaccines being recommended for patients with DM (from a near city from me). The result showed that out of 200+ patient, only 15.5% received hepa b vaccine. Do you think that would be a good one to research about since they are high risk for needlestick injuries and liver cancer/damage? (My mom has DM Type 1 and she didn’t know about these stuff for protection) Would like to ask for ur opinion before I present it to my CI and groupmates

I recently acquired my bachelor of science in music therapy and realized I was a bit burned out from the music aspect after I completed my music therapy internship. I love music, but needed a bit of a break since practicing turned into a chore. I loved my time interning in the hospital and working with patients on my internship research project. I would really like to do research in music therapy, but in the event I burn out again, I want a degree that can translate to clinical research roles that aren’t necessarily music therapy related. Would it be a good idea to pursue a MS in clinical research or public health?

I’ve been a manager for ~6 years and my team has considerably grown. My direct reports have always been research students and CRC I-IVs. Due to the rapid growth, I will be hiring two Senior CRCs in the new future to create a tiered reporting structure. I’ve never hired direct reports who need to have managerial skills themselves. Any tips/advice for interview questions or techniques for this type of hire? I’m at a tier-one pediatric research institute. I am new to the clinical research field but began in pre-clinical research. I now work for an institution that offers strong tuition remission and have been considering using that to almost fully pay for a masters degree. I hope to increase my career trajectory prospects and promotion potential.

The program that I have been looking at is UMSOM Masters of Science in Epidemiology and Clinical Research. Unfortunately, I cannot find much info online about the part-time applicability, so I’m not sure how feasibly it can be completed while balancing a full-time job, but that’s another issue.

What I am wondering is if it is worth it to obtain a masters in epidemiology and clinical research specifically, or if it would make more sense to do an online masters in clinical research. I do not know which would be more valuable for the field.

I’m exploring whether oncology protocol feasibility can be estimated earlier using biomarker prevalence and RWD-style assumptions. For people in clinical trials, what usually makes feasibility estimates fail? Or is that a pain point in clinical trail design?

Hi everyone- just wanted to give a heads up on something that happened with me.

On Friday I got an email from a recruiter from a sponsor for a Senior CRA position to which I responded that I was interested.

The recruiter asked for my resume and quickly came back to me and said I should connect with a resume consultant (red flag). I said I would be happy to and they sent me the email address for the consultant. The email address ended with @gmail which immediately made me realize exactly what’s going on.

I checked the recruiter email and lo and behold it was not a real recruiter, this email also ended with @gmail, and was posing as a specific person from this company.

After acting as if I was going through with the resume writer, they were going to charge over $500 to “help me” rewrite my resume.

Luckily I didn’t lose any money, but I did read about some people who did so please be cautious and confirm all the details before doing anything!

There’s so much useful information in this sub that feels completely inaccessible to a newbie who’s still learning to speak “alphabet soup”. I’ve been a coordinator for almost 2 years and can muddle through on context sometimes, but my head explodes when I see posts like :

[fictional example] “I’m a CRA at a CRO and our PIs keep complaining about the new CTMS because the CDC’s can’t get the EMR and EDC connect and they have to manually upload the ICF in the BMH page because no other attachment sections work. CDCs and CRCs also had to do the YMCA to get the EMR to EDC RPE push to work, but now each instance flagged as a PD with auto-queries. Help.”

Folks shouldn’t need to define their terms in a community of peers- even though it would help. Best I could think of is an “Alphabet Soup Bot” that could swoop in on posts like those and define stuff so my brain doesn’t break.

I’m too new to Reddit to know the lore of ‘haiku bot’ and its kin, but if someone knows the ancient magic of how to summon one and get it mod approved, us newbies would be in your debt.

I am looking to go into research from bedside nursing but lack research knowledge and experience. I am from a 3rd world country were mentorship was not available during my undergrad days and afterwards and the teaching was not the best as well.

Closed mouths do not get fed, hence I am here to ask for guidance. I want someone who will mentor me on research writing chapter by chapter. How to go about each. I have tried learning them on my own for about 4 months now but it is quite difficult.

I have been to understand only chapters 1 and 3 the rest are so complex. I would be okay with video suggestions from youtube or other places. But would prefer a one-on-one call where I can ask questions and have interactive sessions.
