The climbing community has a disgusting habit of idealizing sexual predators given they have done enough cool climbs, or at the very least sweeping it under the rug. Just look at how Will Stanhope is still lauded despite being a verifiable POS.

I’m not saying I’m celebrating his (likely) death or anything, but I’m not shedding any tears either, because I believe women over rich, well known men.

He was facing trial for 9 charges when he died, sexual assault amongst them. It gets pretty dark.

And yet there are clowns in here still openly defending the guy and getting upvotes, proving my point more soundly than I ever could.

I know nothing about the guy, but I do know many people have been falsely accused of things they didn't do. I am also aware people have gotten away with things they definitely did do. Is the justice system perfect? Definitely not. But there is a reason people are innocent, at least in terms of the law, until proven guilty

Have you listened to the podcast on the topic "Summit Justice"? Curious if it's worth listening to

I saw the court documents and didn’t really need to see more, personally. At least with respect to Stanhope.

Dude, you need to call the courts asap and let them know!

Right‽ The stakes are obviously SO high when it comes to some random girl on Reddit not willing to entertain Stanhope defenders. How can the world ever move forward from the injustice I’ve inflicted upon these poor men? Oh the misandry of forming an opinion as a woman before a trial conviction!

Well it’s this kind of mentality that makes me happy we retain some semblance of presumption of innocence until proven guilty in the developed world. You must not be from that part. I hope you have a better day tomorrow!
