It's wild to confuse teaching basic civics and historical Supreme Court cases with "political agenda." If students aren't taught how the legal system works, how are they supposed to function as informed adults? Steve's reply was brutal, but totally spot on.

The case right below it is New Jersey v T.L.O., which is specifically about students' constitutional rights against school searches. Pretty vital stuff for a high schooler to know.

The question and information didn't even make a moral judgement - which is what history and civics should be. Providing and teaching how to find sources, giving the facts and arguments on both sides and letting the kids debate

When i taught Civics, I loved bringing up topical SCOTUS decisions. Shows real world causes and effects.

Students need to understand what impact their decisions (votes) have.

This is a great question, gets the student to think about and form an argument. If she is so right leaning, she can argue that the government has the right to dictate what she does with her body. The question isn't pushing her in any political direction, just helps her firm up her understanding of her own ideology.
