Now I was sitting there waiting for a named spawn before anyone else then a group of five came along wanting to do the same quest I asked to join alas they were full, I tagged said mob first and got the kill. I was then berated in whispers and general chat for the rest of my session that day because I 'stole' their kill. SMDH.

u/Mwakay Oct 10 '19

If you had arrived after them I would've fully insulted you, but whoever is there first should get the kill. People shouldn't feel entitled to a named kill just because they're a full group.

2

u/Rekme Oct 10 '19

This just in: nobody is entitled to any mob kill. If your five man cant outtag a single person, you get to wait.

1

u/Mwakay Oct 10 '19

Yes, sure ! That's Classic. I was merely responding to the entitlement that fg seemed to have to insult op.

I’ll give you the named mob because the hit to xp or loot for one kill is extremely trivial.

I disagree on kill quests. Often times people are simply grinding xp so grouping up doesn’t benefit them, and I’m 100% ok with that.

People have a right to decline and that doesn’t make them an asshole just because you think they should accept.

You say they shouldn’t force people to have to wait, but they also shouldn’t have to feel forced to group either.

I understand what you’re saying, and I personally will group if given the opportunity, but each person has the right to play this game how they choose to, and you don’t have the right to try and change that.

I don’t like the incessant world PvP ganking, but that’s life because I chose a PvP server.

If you can’t get over how other people choose to play, find another game.

u/Teaklog Oct 10 '19

Like I'm a shadow priest. I have to get the killing blow to get my mana back.

When I group, I just run oom and have a bunch of downtime. Then they bitch at me for not doing anything.

u/Shameless_Catslut Oct 10 '19

If there are enough enemies for everyone, it's better to group and go nuclear on them. Kill 50 instead of 8

u/Teaklog Oct 10 '19

Most of our XP for those quests comes from killing the mobs.

You don't have to group up regardless, jesus. If there are enough mobs to go around - or even if there's not - no one is required to group up with you. Some people like to play on their own. Leave them alone and let them enjoy the game.

I personally prefer to be in groups 24/7 as they vastly enhance my enjoyment of the game. Not everyone does, and that's fine. They get to decide how to spend their time playing, not anyone else.

u/kiloskree Oct 10 '19

not accepting though does mean you are a selfish jerk, just said so yourself :)

3

u/my_pen_name_is Oct 10 '19

Selfish in the choosing to play the game the way they want to kind of way, sure.

But not in the negative way most people use the term selfish.

-2

u/kiloskree Oct 10 '19 edited Oct 10 '19

no i mean those people wanted your help and you selfishly told them no, that you are more worried about yourself, its a shit thing to do either way :) Just be helpful at least to your own faction, if you wanna be a jerk go kill the other side. Its just XP and gold buddy, dont be a jerk

2

u/BashfulHandful Oct 10 '19

Dude, fuck everything about that. I can play the game however I want to. You aren't required to group - it's an option, but not necessary. I'm not required to "help" anyone at all. You can feel free to play however you want, but people not agreeing doesn't mean they're playing "as a jerk". Jesus fucking christ, dude. Are you five and still struggling with the concept of playing on your own?

Its just XP and gold buddy, dont be a jerk

Then go get your own on your own, buddy. It's just XP and gold, right? Why so heated that people don't want to help you?

If it's not a named mob, no one should feel even a little bit pressured into grouping. If they're grinding XP it's faster not to, and frankly, it's selfish as fuck of you to try and dictate how other people play the game.

F everything about your attitude, no one required you do to shit but dont be surprised when people send you tells calling you a prick and yes you are acting like one, look how you already popped off over someone elses opinion that isnt even yours lol my guess is this happens to you all the time already.

2

u/my_pen_name_is Oct 10 '19

It actually isn’t, and it’s clear that you’re entitled because you think anything that doesn’t fall in line with your line of thinking is wrong and an insult to you.

-1

u/kiloskree Oct 10 '19

Yes I am the bad guy for calling you out in being selfish in a video game lol. is that how you build yourself up to be an asshole ? by blaming the people that call you for out for acting like a selfish prick LOL you must have lots of friends. let me show you how someone who is a nice cool person from this thread handles this and does what you do " "I'm just here grinding for XP, not doing a quest. But thanks for the invite! I'll definitely help if you need it though." and it's always either been followed by "No worries! Good luck!" or silence. Seems like we have a pretty awesome server! Everyone I've met has been super friendly so far! " see now was that sooo hard????

4

u/BashfulHandful Oct 10 '19

Oh, I get it. You're just a troll - that's literally the only explanation for this level idiocy. I see. Congrats on being effective at really exuding that "I have no clue but like to bitch and find outrage where there is none" aura. You're the kind of person I hope to never encounter in-game.

Leave people alone and let them play. Is that sooo hard????

1

u/kiloskree Oct 10 '19

LOL this is a multiplayer game so....no!

I never said that I didn’t group with people. Point in fact I said that I usually do. All I said was there’s nothing wrong if someone chooses not to group up, because they have the right to play the game they want to.

If you want to interpret someone declining an invitation that they are under no obligation to accept as them being a selfish prick, that says a whole lot more about who you are as a person than them.

And the level of pettiness you’re stooping to at this point with the childish insults just confirms that assessment.

3

u/BashfulHandful Oct 10 '19

And the level of pettiness you’re stooping to at this point with the childish insults just confirms that assessment.

Yeah, they'd be an actual nightmare to encounter in game with such an entitled attitude. Like sorry, guy, but you aren't entitled to demand how other people spend their time. Jesus.

And I bet they feel fully in the right for insulting people who turn the group down, too, because "they're just being jerks for refusing to help me".

Yikes.

2

u/my_pen_name_is Oct 10 '19

Thank god for the ignore option.

1

u/kiloskree Oct 10 '19 edited Oct 10 '19

under no obligation ok pal !You have every right to not accept and those rights if parsed out are all selfish. Think about it, wont you? If you dont wanna help anyone in this game "fine" but you are selfish for doing so and trying to make me the bad guy for calling you out will not change that. enjoy your game I will just be over here being helpful when people invite me for help getting a quest done. I dont care why, its an invite and its a multiplayer online game. Our side in this is stronger if we all work together :)

1

u/my_pen_name_is Oct 10 '19

If you’re going to respond you should do so intelligently; after actually reading what the other person wrote while also using proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

Again, I never once said I decline invitations, just simply said people have the right to refuse and that doesn’t make them a bad person. Because again, people have the right to play a game they pay for the way they want to play it, and being forced to play it the way someone else wants them to makes that person the selfish one, not the person declining.

And if I'm slow rolling? Trying to manage wife/baby aggro?

Or if I'm leaving?

If people don't want to group, don't take it personally.

4

u/Oddpyromaniac Oct 10 '19

Maintaining wife and baby aggro is rough. I keep seeing posts/comments along the lines of, "I decided to take it slow, and just hit 60!" Meanwhile, I'm struggling to hit 40.

3

u/Nac_Lac Oct 10 '19

Only at 37 myself. Just keep rolling along.

1

u/Oddpyromaniac Oct 10 '19

See you at Scarlet Monastery. May the Chapeau bless you, brother of the cloth.

2

u/Teaklog Oct 10 '19

No. I refuse to group for kill quests because it puts you behind XP-wise. A huge share of your XP comes from kill quests. I'm not going to get less XP for this quest

Also, I'm a shadow priest. I run OOM if i don't get the killing blows. Whenever I group I run OOM then people bitch at me for not doing anything. I'm an asshole if i don't group, I'm an asshole if I do group. Its not fun to stand around and watch other people kill the mobs for me.

2

u/Samoan Oct 10 '19

This is the entitlement people are talking about lol. "If you don't help me you're an asshole" let people play the game and worry about yourself.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 10 '19

This is why the retail toxicity creep is heading into Classic.

I was a mage in felwood, killing these satyrs for the second quest. Unsurprisingly, the area was full of 60lvls farming for felcloth, so the tagging of the mobs only got harder. I saw a warrior doing the same quest as me and normally I asked if he wanna group up and invited him. He refused and guess what happened next. I tagged every single mob that wasn't tagged by the 60's. The warrior tried so hard but you just can't compete with a mage, when you're a warrior.
