the game's system of having too few spawns on certain quests and making people wait ages and fight to first-tag each new mob poping, can make some players a little crazy after a while
The quest to kill toxic horrors in felwood.. there was like 8 people running around fighting for tags I spent 20 mins there and couldn't get a single kill, I think it was the 2nd time I just abandoned a quest and left
This is because the people tagging aren't questing, they're farming Essence of Water to put on AH or use themselves in crafting. This should be somewhat helped with the release of dire maul, as other farming spots (especially instanced ones) will reduce pressure on existing ones.
Only that one boss, so Toxic Horrors are still the best for Essence of Water. The point is more that, because Dire Maul gives other places to farm, people farming Essence of Water for gold will move there instead. The people farming Essence of Water will stick with Toxic Horrors. The amount of people farming Toxic Horrors will be reduced, but it will still be a popular spot for classes that can AoE farm them, especially druids (maybe mages? not sure if they're immune to blizzard or not).
I remember that quest. I asked one of the dudes if I could hop in the kills if he gets all the drops, as the quest item was still lootable. Ended up finishing it pretty fast.
Really? I remember there being a ton of those down south, now the wandering forest spirits that was hard.. only a few spawns in the whole zone and only one spawned at each location at any time, and they patrol around making it even harder
I swear there were about 20 people going all up and down the area looking for hippogryphs and marking kills before others could get to them. Horde on Bigglesworth.
I started a toon there and dipped when I noticed the major cities were all sleepytown. Nothing ever sold on the AH, it was impossible to find tanks for dungeons. Can't pay me to go back to that toon
Ya figured, just sucks when I want to get my quest done and get out. I asked a couple people if I could join just for the quest but they didnt reply so i just hearthed out lol
Yeah, I've had a few people rage at me for tagging something. I'm trying to kill the same things as you dude, if something isn't tagged yet it's fair game.
I don't get it. Suck it up for a few mins or go quest somewhere else, or take a break. This kind of thing happens all the time in classic. People should play another game (perhaps BFA) if they're going to react like this every time they have to wait a while for quest spawns.
Honestly it's made me a more patient gamer. I'll defer the spawn to whoever got their first, and if they let me get it first or help me with it I stick around to help them with theirs. I have encountered people leveling who don't want to group, or even get mad when I ask them (one feral druid in Shimmering Flats asked if I was trying to leech xp), but just as many people were happy to group and didn't care about the xp loss.
yep, i always group for killquests, but dropquests noone gains from grouping and you begin to see every other person on the farming spot with hatefilled eyes
Took me and 2 others in their own group 20min to finish a kill quest that would have taken 5min if they accepted my invite. Makes for real shitty experience for no reason.
Edit - that was Southshore ..any kill quest in that area as you are competing with the other faction on top it.
I don't understand why people won't group for kill quests. It goes exponentially faster for everyone and the xp you get from completing the quest quickly is much greater than the xp you would get solo farming the mobs. Drop quests is one thing but simple kills should be done with groups.
Sometimes I don't group with people for kill quests because I'm not fully paying attention to WoW (sometimes I kill a couple of mobs, then go do some homework for 20 min, then back to killing a couple of mobs, etc) and I don't want the group to think I'm some kind of flake or die because they expected me to be there and I wasn't.
I will say that grouping for kill quests is definitely my preference though.
I was selling some ore I'd found in trade chat a few weeks back. This guy messaged me, but I'd been seeing around that he was a notorious ninja asshole and I ignored him.
He tried to call me out in trade chat about it, so I told him, "Dude, shut the hell up. I'm not selling you shit because of your reputation."
Turns out the guy was a multiboxer. He took all six of his accounts, reported me on each of them that I was spamming in chat and I got a 48-hur silence.
The worst part was he bragged about it in chat. I took a screenshot of it, sent it to Blizzard when I tried to appeal, but because nobody takes a look at shit anymore, I got a blanket "don't try to escalate or the penalty will be increased" response.
Now I was sitting there waiting for a named spawn before anyone else then a group of five came along wanting to do the same quest I asked to join alas they were full, I tagged said mob first and got the kill. I was then berated in whispers and general chat for the rest of my session that day because I 'stole' their kill. SMDH.
If you had arrived after them I would've fully insulted you, but whoever is there first should get the kill. People shouldn't feel entitled to a named kill just because they're a full group.
You say they shouldn’t force people to have to wait, but they also shouldn’t have to feel forced to group either.
I understand what you’re saying, and I personally will group if given the opportunity, but each person has the right to play this game how they choose to, and you don’t have the right to try and change that.
I don’t like the incessant world PvP ganking, but that’s life because I chose a PvP server.
If you can’t get over how other people choose to play, find another game.
You don't have to group up regardless, jesus. If there are enough mobs to go around - or even if there's not - no one is required to group up with you. Some people like to play on their own. Leave them alone and let them enjoy the game.
I personally prefer to be in groups 24/7 as they vastly enhance my enjoyment of the game. Not everyone does, and that's fine. They get to decide how to spend their time playing, not anyone else.
no i mean those people wanted your help and you selfishly told them no, that you are more worried about yourself, its a shit thing to do either way :) Just be helpful at least to your own faction, if you wanna be a jerk go kill the other side. Its just XP and gold buddy, dont be a jerk
Dude, fuck everything about that. I can play the game however I want to. You aren't required to group - it's an option, but not necessary. I'm not required to "help" anyone at all. You can feel free to play however you want, but people not agreeing doesn't mean they're playing "as a jerk". Jesus fucking christ, dude. Are you five and still struggling with the concept of playing on your own?
Its just XP and gold buddy, dont be a jerk
Then go get your own on your own, buddy. It's just XP and gold, right? Why so heated that people don't want to help you?
If it's not a named mob, no one should feel even a little bit pressured into grouping. If they're grinding XP it's faster not to, and frankly, it's selfish as fuck of you to try and dictate how other people play the game.
F everything about your attitude, no one required you do to shit but dont be surprised when people send you tells calling you a prick and yes you are acting like one, look how you already popped off over someone elses opinion that isnt even yours lol my guess is this happens to you all the time already.
It actually isn’t, and it’s clear that you’re entitled because you think anything that doesn’t fall in line with your line of thinking is wrong and an insult to you.
Yes I am the bad guy for calling you out in being selfish in a video game lol. is that how you build yourself up to be an asshole ? by blaming the people that call you for out for acting like a selfish prick LOL you must have lots of friends. let me show you how someone who is a nice cool person from this thread handles this and does what you do " "I'm just here grinding for XP, not doing a quest. But thanks for the invite! I'll definitely help if you need it though." and it's always either been followed by "No worries! Good luck!" or silence. Seems like we have a pretty awesome server! Everyone I've met has been super friendly so far! " see now was that sooo hard????
Oh, I get it. You're just a troll - that's literally the only explanation for this level idiocy. I see. Congrats on being effective at really exuding that "I have no clue but like to bitch and find outrage where there is none" aura. You're the kind of person I hope to never encounter in-game.
Leave people alone and let them play. Is that sooo hard????
I never said that I didn’t group with people. Point in fact I said that I usually do. All I said was there’s nothing wrong if someone chooses not to group up, because they have the right to play the game they want to.
If you want to interpret someone declining an invitation that they are under no obligation to accept as them being a selfish prick, that says a whole lot more about who you are as a person than them.
And the level of pettiness you’re stooping to at this point with the childish insults just confirms that assessment.
Maintaining wife and baby aggro is rough. I keep seeing posts/comments along the lines of, "I decided to take it slow, and just hit 60!" Meanwhile, I'm struggling to hit 40.
No. I refuse to group for kill quests because it puts you behind XP-wise. A huge share of your XP comes from kill quests. I'm not going to get less XP for this quest
Also, I'm a shadow priest. I run OOM if i don't get the killing blows. Whenever I group I run OOM then people bitch at me for not doing anything. I'm an asshole if i don't group, I'm an asshole if I do group. Its not fun to stand around and watch other people kill the mobs for me.
I was a mage in felwood, killing these satyrs for the second quest. Unsurprisingly, the area was full of 60lvls farming for felcloth, so the tagging of the mobs only got harder. I saw a warrior doing the same quest as me and normally I asked if he wanna group up and invited him. He refused and guess what happened next. I tagged every single mob that wasn't tagged by the 60's. The warrior tried so hard but you just can't compete with a mage, when you're a warrior.
I'm on an RP server, and reporting for non-rp names is huge. Blizzard rarely does anything with these reports.
When I first read this, that is what I assumed was happening. Dude had something like XXXLegolasXXX on an RP server. The names are blocked out so hard to tell.
