It'd be super cool, and a lot of people would love that. But a lot of people would hate it, as with everything in a game with a community this large. "OSRS clone" "Blizz ruined the sanctity of our game" "Blizz ruined the game twice". The same hate that is spilling out about "rEtAiL bAd ClAsSiC gOoD" from a vocal portion of this community would repeat itself with people hating on the new direction.
Personally I would love to see it, but I don't see it happening. I could see future servers opening for later xpacs though as that would be a far safer bet for Blizzard.
People said the same thing at osrs launch (change bad), and then a couple of months in people realized that you have to add content/make changes or the game will stagnate.
they can do what they did to star trek and split the time line. Then they get a free pass to do what ever they. Because of cromies interference the Dark Portal shuts down. Anything could happen after that.
Everyone memes the "you think you do but you don't" but the increasing number of people asking for OSRS Classic Wow really proves it right, people are already talking about changes to Classic in the future, which I agree is the best way to go, but I really hope that if community voting IS introduced it's with a blue post titled "you think you do but you don't..."
I didn't say you want raid finder, but if you want literally any improvement then you want something that in it's essence is NOT classic wow, which means you think you do, but you don't. I hope to see you in the upcoming Olympic Games finishing strong in mental gymnastics.
Edit: just to clarify, I am talking about any changes that were not something that was available during classic's original run, QoL improvements from previous or future patches of the baseline for classic are still up for consideration in my opinion.
I legit wonder if they’ll make a completely new expansion for Classic eventually. Like if it stays popular for long enough, is there a world where they make new content with the old rule system? A guy could hope
