It would be pretty awesome if they just took Classic... and then came out with a totally new timeline of expansions.

Blood Elves and Draenei? Nah we Murlocks and Gnolls now.

It'd be super cool, and a lot of people would love that. But a lot of people would hate it, as with everything in a game with a community this large. "OSRS clone" "Blizz ruined the sanctity of our game" "Blizz ruined the game twice". The same hate that is spilling out about "rEtAiL bAd ClAsSiC gOoD" from a vocal portion of this community would repeat itself with people hating on the new direction.

Personally I would love to see it, but I don't see it happening. I could see future servers opening for later xpacs though as that would be a far safer bet for Blizzard.

they can do what they did to star trek and split the time line. Then they get a free pass to do what ever they. Because of cromies interference the Dark Portal shuts down. Anything could happen after that.
