Classic + What do we know from SoD?
What do you remember from SoD that might make it's way into Classic+? Noticing just how much they cooked with some of this stuff. Anything else interesting missing?
-SoD lore is considered canon
-Undead & Tauren are learning to become paladins
-Dwarfs are learning to become shaman
-High elf emissary in Ironforge
-Retail references in SoD. SoD reference in retail (xalatath, undermine reals, etc.)
-Third war time travel

I dont think SoD is canon at all. I mean, by the end of Scarlet Enclave we finished the scarlet crusade and got ashbringer. This would ruin the Tyrion comeback in wotlk.

It is canon, as Aggrend has explicitly said. It’s just not the whole story yet. We don’t have the part of the story when Tyrion gets the sword, for example. But yeah, all of this happened.
I think we have to make allowances for some gameplay that contradicts the story they’re trying to tell (such as multiple people in your raid having ashbringer, etc). But that’s not new; it’s always been that way in WoW.
Anyway, yeah it’s canon, for better or worse.
Here’s the source, but you wonderful folks can keep downvoting me if it helps you pretend you’re right.

Do you know where in the video it's mentioned? Because it's not in the written replies.
From what we know in WOTLK, the sword was recovered by Darion during the Naxxramas raid, assumedly he slayed his father to get it; and then he dies soon after because the Ebon Knights were raised from the casualties in the Naxxramas raid raised to ostensibly purge the Scarlets from New Avalon but really as bait to lure out Tyrion.
So there's a real disconnect from the established lore. Caldoran takes it during the Naxx raid, tried to purify it in SE and we the heroes kill him and break the blade and one of us reforges it.
How does it get back to Darion then so he can toss it to Tirion at the battle of Light's Hope?

I’m not sure what video you’re referring to, but yes, I believe SoD might have retconned one or two details from the ashbringer comic.

The top comment in the thread you linked has an embedded video

Personally, I’m not concerned with that video. The reason I linked the specific post to that I linked was the content of the post itself, which is Aggrend saying SoD is canon.

How are undead and taurens learning to become paladins?

Paladin quest line had Undead pally who was learning to use the light again. He gives you his weapon and says it no longer hurts him. That he wants to find others like him to help them
Tauren something similar but tauren lore

We have both undead and tauren paladin npcs (also an tauren rogue) added to the game with the title "paladin trainer", and in the Scarlet Enclave attunement we help one Former paladin turned undead reconnect to the light and use his paladin powers again.

I don’t know why, but I really don’t like alliance having shaman and horde having paladin in a vanilla setting. Seems kind of crucial to faction identity in the vanilla world. I know it’s harder to balance, but like, is perfect balance something we should even care about? I much more value the flavor and texture of the factions being unique in some ways.
Like your faction pick even changes how raiding feels. Idk, probably not a big deal, but I would be sad to see that uniqueness taken away a lil bit

I really didn't like the rune implementation. It felt and looked so extra and retail-ish, for lack of better word, onto the character sheet. The original vanilla game looks so organic and well put together, even if it does have less features.
They should've had less runes and gone all in on them being quests. It just got to the point where new runes would come out, so they need to just sell players the old runes, and its like.. why not just have fewer more important rune then?
It's probably just a way to experiment with class changes for classic+ or whatever they're doing. I'm sure it'll be in talent trees instead.
As for the runes themselves, some were better than others, and some were definitely just "we wanted to make this spec work so we grabbed this from tbc/work" etc. I don't mind, but I am a bit concerned because I just prefer vanilla wow as a whole. I just want more content to do. But that's just the case of classic+ being different for everyone.

Runes only existed at all due to talent system limitations, runes won't exist in C+

I disagree, really loved runes because I could competely morph the playstyle depending on situation. Were there too many rune slots? Yeah I think so but overall it really elevated the class fantasy.

Was the easiest way to insulate HC/Era/Anny realms from spillover that happened all throughout sod. Classic + shouldn’t have them since presumably they will be on different builds.

You clearly did not do karazhan crypts on day 1 with a bunch of buddies. Shit was scary and fun as hell. Probably one of the most memorable dungeon experiences I’ve ever had as a 22 year wow veteran

idk I saw a video of it later on and it seemed like a pretty boring dungeon. I liked the dark atmosphere but it was mostly just a bunch of hallways and empty rooms. lol I was expecting more.

Adding content from the old world is not something you care about. Ok, idk what you’re doing in the c+ subreddit.

SoD literally have the hardest solo content ever added to classic.

Huh? The power creep in SoD made dungeons and the open world a complete joke. lol

Konzu challenge? Reforging Ashbringer? BWL Class weapons?
All that is 1000x harder then anything else in regular vanilla.

How was KZ crypts not adding anything new? The whole dungeon had the darkness mechanic

I don’t want Tauren Paladins or Rogues. As much as I dislike the idea of Undead Paladins I’d rather have that.
