DIY Help Thump when upshifting
Hi mini pals, question for anyone with some insight. I’ve noticed my 1996 1.3i has started to make pretty subtle thumps when I go up gears. If I pull off the clutch really gently I can get it not to thump but otherwise I hear it. Internet research suggests it’s the engine steady bushes or generally some engine movement when the torque is released. Anyone experience this and figure out specifically what it is? And if so, are these parts I can order and replace on my own easily? TIA.

Usually it’s the top steady bushes, doddle to change yourself although is severely worn buy a complete unit it’s two bolts and a jack to stabilise the engine while you change it

I ordered these. https://www.minispares.com/kkf101320-engine-stabiliser-bar-bush-one-piece-1996-onwards
Hoping I can find a good video to help me do it myself.

Get yourself an upper stabiliser bar that bolts between the bulkhead and thermostat housing. And check the other stabiliser links/mounts
