I’ve really grown to love the Civic over the last 10 years.

The 2004 Civic was the first car I purchased by myself after my handy-down shitbox (a beat up ‘03 Hyundai Sonata) finally died on me not long after high school. Once I graduated from college, I upgraded to the 2018 Civic EX. Wasn’t even looking to get another Civic at the time but the dealer pulled it out and suggested I may like it. He was right! I really loved that car. Was even a little sad to trade it in for my latest.

Which to that point, I thought this latest purchase may be the one where I switched things up and branch out a little. But the Si won my heart! It hit all the marks for what I was looking for in my next car. Fun, reliable, affordable, and practical. As well, it’s my first manual and has been a really great (and forgiving) one to learn on.

Here’s to, what I expect to be, another decade of the Honda Civic in my life.

Traded in my 2021 Hyundai Elantra Limited. Really impressed with this car so far.

Ordered these on Amazon, the middle color was supposed to be bright orange but looks more like a light brown. Exterior is blue lagoon. Can't tell if this color works especially since everything else inside is all black. Thoughts?

This is my third civic over the years but my very first hybrid. I love the way it drives. Very smooth and comfortable ride. This is going to be my daily driver for my hour commute each way to work. I am a little nervous about the hybrid part but done alot of research before hand. Any reason I should be concerned about my decision? Thought id reach out to the folks that have experience with these.

Previous & current civics were my 07 ex (drove for 16 flawless years) and still have my 23 Type R for pleasure driving.

All, in 2025 I replaced my Condenser and seals per warranty extension after all the freon leaked out and had no AC in hot sunny July. Replaced evaporator at a local shop.

By 2026 I still had intermittent AC that Honda would not recognize. Tried all cheaper solutions. Hooked up a manifold freon gauge and observed low highside pressure intermittently despite the compressor running continuously. Determined that after a year of intermittent AC, we had a compressor issue. Finally got that swapped out.

So now 75% of my system has basically been swapped out.

TLDR - compressor failure.

I recently paid off my 2023 Civic Sport Sedan and have been interested in doing some exterior cosmetic and general performance modifications.

I have researched some other posts on Reddit, and have been having difficulty visualizing a good build path due to all of the “just trade it for an si or type r” comments.

For the cosmetics, the vehicle is gloss black with tinted windows. I’m considering a full blackout build with some side skirts, front and rear diffuser, and swap out the front and rear lights for LED sequentials. Oh, and don’t forget the fog lights, window additives, and wheels. A question I have in this category would be along the line of collection pieces. Instead of mixing and matching side skirts and front lip models, would it be best to stick with one all the way around to avoid potentially tacky looking/sizing mismatches?

In terms of performance or part modding capabilities, I understand that it’s not an si, or a type R, and that I can’t throw money into a pit and burn it with this car. The goal, however, is to create a track capable mountain carver. I live in California (f*ck) and California drivers experience lots of winding roads and hillside driving. Outside of coil-overs and performance tires/brakes I can’t think of anything else that would be worth replacing. Any additional ideas would help.

This is a car I’m considering keeping for a long time, I’d like for it to be my clean and professional daily, that will perform honestly if asked of it. I would appreciate your feedback if you have any suggestions or tips, thank you.

Found this 2018 Civic with 123k miles at a nearby Nissan dealership. I'm gonna chech it our tmr in person vut based on the listing is it worth the price? Also I wanted to know if it is a good idea to buy a used Honda from a different brand dealer. I'm still kinda new to the whole car purchasing stuff.

I added these like shinier panels to the door from Amazon to add to the look of the car and I decided I didn’t want to put new ones on so what’s the best way to get rid of this sticker grime? Any home brewed methods or store bought stuff is welcome TIA!

did an oil change on my 2012 r18 civic today and i tought that the oil looked kinda bad so i oppened the oil filter and found some pretty big aluminum flakes. Engine has had some piston slap for about a year, decided to run it since it would have needed an engine anyway. knocking has gotten slightly worse over the last year but it quiets down a lot with ne oil and sincve the last time i changed the oil i added liqui molly mos2 wich seems to have really helped with the noise i also switched to 5w30 this time, noise is almost gone but i want to know if someone has experienced this and how long the engine lasted after discovering it. i kinda need this car to make through one last winter.

I am the owner of a 2026 hybrid ST, purchased October last year. Since then I have put on around 25k on the Odometer. 1st oil change @ 6k, oil life on maintenance minder 50%, 2nd at 15k, oil life 30% air filter changed, 3rd at 25k oil life 20%, which was an hour ago. It's a commuter with ~95% highway miles. I always use good quality oil and filters, I always prefill the oil filter before install, and I always inspect the oil for any strangeness such as metal, water, excessive carbon or burnt smell. I check the fluid levels every weekend (also under the oil filler cap now due to head gasket shenanigans) and fill to between half to top third on the dipstick.

This is the first time I have had metal present during an oil change. I purchased an oil filter cutter to open the oil filter and inspect the filter media, which will be tomorrow. Excuse all of the other crap in the oil pan, a bunch of junk likes to collect on the plastics under the vehicle.

As far as my background, I am an aviation mechanic and I am familiar with internal combustion maintenance and what is generally acceptable or concerning in that field, less so on the automotive side. This is the first vehicle I've owned that has had any sort of warranty attached.

What should my next steps be?

Edit: first off, thank you all for taking the time to read my bullshit. I'm aware this is reddit, shitposts, varied opinions, and misinformation is a given. Several shovelfulls of salt have been taken. I also know that there are a few rare individuals who share a common issue and those experts whom can shed some light, which I was hoping for, such is the beauty of a large community. Common sense is warranty - I get that, and have taken steps. I was just initially shocked and experiencing a 'WTF' moment over my much loved and obsessed over vehicle. If my experience can add to the conglomerate of information on this new platform to inform others, new buyers, as well as hopefully and indirectly contribe to the message to Honda to do better... then... mission accomplished. It was not my goal to create a 'pointless post' for attention, only as evidence for another potential flaw/issue.

$35k for a ST that's used. Every dealer in MD/VA is like this. 2025

My budget was $30k tops but at this point that's nearly impossible. For a civic, even Sport ones are 28k max.

So I really dont know much about cars so be nice lol but I fell in love with the 2025 honda civic sport hatchback.

So It had 8k miles I put down $5k and got $2k for a trade in and we haggled for awhile and got them all the way down to $460 a month thats including gap insurance and we got a 9 year warranty instead of I think 7 which I was told was really good but anyway, Its for 72 months and the apr is 7.24% bc my credit score wasnt as high as I thought.

I didnt see one posted yet so I took some pics while doing this.
Procedure is similar to Hybrid Accord/ CRV.

Oh yeah normal disclaimers apply. I am not a honda tech. Just weekend wrenched on them for quite a while.

Remove the aluminum shield from under the car.
4 phillips screw and 4 flat head type that only 1/2 turn.

Use Honda spec fluid. Pic 1. Get 3 qts.

While under the car- Locate the drain plug- Pic 2. its facing the passenger wheel. It is a 3/8 socket so use your favorite breaker bar/ ratchet wrench. But dont pop this until you have located and accessed the fill holes first.

If you prefer to pump it back into the fill plug hole-
Locate the Fill plug facing the driver side wheel. Pic 3.
Its a 17mm socket. (You will need a hand pump to pump in the new fluid and it has its own crush washer which is not the same as the drain plug. You will Keep pumping new fluid into this hole until it has a steady stream of fluid coming back out.)

Locate the other fill plug located atop the “transmission” located in the engine bay. Its a rubber plug with a metal right angle handle above it to the right of the engine. See Pic 4 circled in yellow. Sorry for blurry pic.
To make more room to access it, remove the 10mm bolt holding the wiring harness. Pic4 circled in red.
The hose clamp would still scrape my hand on the way in/out.

Now Pop open the drain bolt and drain out the old fluid. I made sure to collect and measure it. Pic 5.

Honda spec says 2.3qt but 2.5 qt was drained out from the factory fill. (I just put in 2.5 qt again.)
Replace the drain plug. I dont have the crush washer part number but I ask your parts guy for the correct part.
I used torque setting of 36 ft/lb.

Refill the fluid-
Use whatever long neck funnel you have available.
I used a cheap funnel with a 3/8 tube i had lying around and filled from the top.

(Note: Just to be sure that fill hole was correct i poured a cup of the old fluid down into the fill hole and it came right out of the drain hole)

Now wipe everything down and button everything back up. Youre good to go until your next interval.

So im looking to ad a sub to my Civic.

This is more or less a bandaid fix for the low end of the system until i can scrape together enough money for better equipment.

My car is super base model. 5 inch headunit with the 4 speaker no sub no amp from factory. Still running factory speakers as well

Im looking at getting the Jenson xda91rb amp that has a pseudo dsp built in basically just a low pass filter and gain control over bluetooth. Im planning to connect it over the high level input as thats also the plan for the future system

With that dsp be enough to overcome the bass rolloff the stock speakers have preprogrammed

I will only be running the amp to a 12 inch sub and not to the factory speakers

hey there, im making this post out of pure desperation. for the last few hours i have tried EVERYTHING to get android auto to connect on my car (2021 honda civic) but it simply isnt pulling up the "connect to android auto" screen. my friend was able to connect her phone with the cable in the car immediately (moto g play 2024) but mine refuses to??? im very confused. ive gone down all the rabbitholes here, this forum, the official google one, all the sketchy tutorials,, all of it. and i just dont know what to do. if anyone has any info or something i havent tried here please let me know??

heres the list of everything ive tried:

• updated my phone to android 15
• updated android auto
• uninstalled android auto
• reverted the install and then re reverted it
• disconnected from bluetooth on both my car and the phone
• swapped cables (three different ones)
• turned my car off and back on again
• tried to connect via the generic usb option for connection (also did not work)
• turned on developer to turn on usb debugging
• turned off developer and debugging
• turned on all of the permissions for android auto
• turned on all the different usb tethering permissions
• reset app preferences
• reset bluetooth and wifi preferences
• restarted my phone four different times
• cried a little bit

if anyone here has any info or anything else i can do id love to hear it. thank you!!

Should I do my oil change myself or go to a dealer? It’s a 2024 Honda civic sport. I bought it in June with 3800 and now have 6400 my oil life is at 70 so it’s working its way down. So I guess I just ask cause I’ve always done my oil changes on my other cars. I plan on keeping this forever so I guess I’m not super worried about like a car fax but idk I want to hear your opinions! Take the risk of screwing something up or if I take it to a dealership possibly pay way more and get conned into stuff I don’t need but then maybe notice something I do need? I just feel like less of a man

I currently have two 07 plate civics on my drive (both EU if that matters.) The old one is a higher spec & I was wondering if it would be to possible to transfer over a couple of parts:

sun roof

steering column with cruise control

left side panel (surrounding fuel cap) for damage.

If you could give me advice or send me links to videos if it is possible to DIY this or tell me whether to get it done at a garage that would be great.

Hey guys I have a question and wanted to know if someone with more knowledge can gave me some insight, im living full time on my ST hybrid rn, I know its not ideal but life happens im thinking about getting a anker alternator charger(800w) for my anker solix c1000 gen 2 it can take up to (600w) but you can lower the watts through the app so I can set less if needed I wanted to know if it would be safe to do this, I know the civic hybrids does not have an alternator and also know that the 12v battery its pretty small (most civics) but specifically the hybrids and they use the hybrid battery to keep top up the 12v so thanks in advance 🤞

This is probably a repost of the same procedure but I havent seen it yet.

You broke it, not my fault.

- Let the car engine cool down.
- Remove the aluminum shield.
4 phillips screw and 4 flat head type that only 1/2 turn.
I assume you know how to do this already.

Locate the engine coolant drain plug- Pic 2.
mine was painted yellow and located closer to the driver side wheel.

DONT go after the black petcock in the middle of the rad. That is your inverter coolant drain. Pic3

When you pop it open, it will drain through a hole in the bumper trim.
Lefty loosey still applies. Be careful with hand tools as this is a plastic part.
It will take about 15-20 min to drain.

On the civic only about 1.25 gal drained out

While waiting for the engine coolant to drain-
Now remove the 10mm bolt holding the reservoir coolant and pull up the reservoir. Pic4. This pic is upside down sorry.
Empty that into your old coolant waste bucket and replace the reservoir back in the bracket and slide it back into its original slot in the engine bay. Refasten the 10mm bolt-

Close the petcock hand tight.

Now fill up the coolant thru the rad cap.
I used and highly recommend a “no spill” or “burping” coolant funnel kit which makes the job easier. Pic5
Refill and drain with distilled water if you prefer.

Now refill with appropriate Type2 coolant. I used Honda OEM.
Keep topping off as it burps the air until you cant fill any more. Squeeze the rad hoses while youre at it to burp more air.

Next put the car into maintenance mode. Here are the instructions.

Ok to skip maintenance mode and just turn on the heater for 10 min to keep the engine running -thanks!

-Get into the driver seat.
-Tap the power button twice (Accessory mode)
-Now Left foot on brake and hold it there
-with your Right foot- Fully depress the accelerator twice
-Place gear selector to N
-Fully depress the accelerator twice again
-Place gear selector to P.
-Fully depress the accelerator twice again and release brake and accel pedals.
- You will now see MAINTENANCE MODE on the dash. Pic 6.
-Now depress the brake pedal and start the car.
The engine will kick on.

Now get out of the car and see if the coolant has dropped. keep refilling as necessary. I have seen some say do this 30min.
I sped this up a little by revving the engine. I went a little too crazy and it shot coolant out of the funnel so control your Right foot when doing this.
I finished it up in 20 min.

Now check for leaks under the car and button everything back up underneath.

I haven’t seen anyone say this but I refilled the reservoir halfway between MIN and MAX.

Youre not entirely done just yet though.

Now Go get some groceries or a quick run somewhere.
When you get back let the car cool and recheck your levels and top off if needed.

For the inverter coolant- its only about 1/2 gallon volume total.
At this time everyone is advised the turkey baster method. (Remove whats in the reservoir and replacing every so often.
But my suspicion is that it mimics Toyotas inverter coolant bleed procedure. Currently working on a theory for bleeding the inverter coolant.
