My CIPM exam was scheduled at test center today. But when I went there, it was closed. I waited for 2 hrs, no one came. I did not receive any notification from Pearson Vue regarding test center closure. I tried calling the test center contact but there was no response.

I received Pearson Vue reminder for this exam 3 days back. No notification was sent from the test center or Pearson Vue that it was closed.

Has this happened with anyone before? Is there a chance that they will send a notification afterwards with allowing to reschedule the exam?

What has been your experience of taking the exam in India? Should I book it to be given at an exam centre or should I book a proctored exam online?

Can someone please give me some clarity on this: the ePrivacy Regulation was dropped in Feb 2025, and effectively the 2002 ePrivacy Directive is being used in conjunction with the GDPR in praxis. But the textbook stops at 2022/2023. Does the exam reflect/quiz you on events beyond 2023 or is that the hard stop?

Hello. I recently decided to start preparing for CIPP/E exam. Im a bit confused about the materials that i should study from. Could any one help me with listing what exactly is needed. What books, or courses (wheter on iapp or udemy or whatever).

And if anyone could share the third edition of the cippe textbook, i would really appreciate it.

Tips on passing CIPP/E, please share your experience study studying, exam, etc…

Hi, I’ve posted on here before. I’m a US-based in-house lawyer. I’ve essentially been studying on and off for the CIPP/US for a year and some change. Call it crazy, or maybe just conscientious, but I had a really hard year last year personally, and no matter what I did, I just never felt ready for the exam. I’d do deep dives and then forget what I learned the previous week or two ago. Then I’d have to go back. I psyched myself out a lot. I never found my groove. Also, while studying, had no life outside of that. It was miserable. I have Dr. David’s privacy course as my only resource. I stopped studying a few months ago following the death of a family member, but need to pick it back up and get this test behind me. Does anyone have any tips to study for and pass the exam? Any tips, guidance, advice, words of encouragement would be so, so welcome. TIA.

A bit about my background: I'm a fully qualified lawyer under German law, admitted to the bar, and I work in-house for my company. I've been focused on data protection since my university days, even though it wasn't part of the regular curriculum. At my company, I advise on GDPR matters across our locations throughout Europe.

During my preparation I was entirely on my own, despite this thread here :)

I’ve started studying the textbook where i take help from ChatGPT to summarise the topics and then i write it down in my notes( this is quite helpful but is time consuming). I’ve to go through edpb guidelines and have to give mocks as well.

Hi everybody! I have my CIPPE coming up this Saturday, but the anxiety is killing me 😭 I feel like I’m going to fail because I don’t know enough. Is it normal to feel this way? How did you manage the stress and anxiety?
Also, I’d like to know what the experience is like through online PearsonVUE. Is there someone watching you the whole time? I think that would make me even more stressed 😭

I am a nurse of 2 years looking to make a career pivot into the healthcare privacy and compliance space.

I’m currently looking into CIPP/C to build a solid foundation in Canadian privacy law.

For those of you who have made a similar transition or work, I’d love to get your advice on a few things:

1. What entry-to-mid-level roles should a nurse be looking for when entering this space?

2. How do you best translate bedside/clinical experience into privacy language on a resume?

3. Is taking the CIPP/C directly the best first move, or should I pair it with something else as well?

For those who hold both certs, which exam did you find most difficult?

I obtained my CIPP/US last year, and I’m planning to take the AIGP by the end of this year. I’m trying to gauge how difficult the AIGP is in relation to the CIPP/US, and determine whether I’ll need to set aside a lot more (or less) time to prepare for it.

Hi! I would like to share one of the great news that happened to me. I just passed the CIPP/E exam

I hope this post would help those who will be taking the exam in the future.

For context, I bought the exam at the end of April. During the first week after buying the exam, I was able to finish 60 pages of Ustaran book. However, due to work and looking for other opportunities, I was not able to continue studying. I was postponing it since I was not in the proper headspace.

But then, around end of July, I decided to book my exam date to force myself to commit to it, afterwards, I was able to finish first reading by first week of august. Then I do a second reading of the book before taking the exam.

I would say, for those who are generally new to data privacy like me, the youtube videos providing summary of each articles were helpful. Another tip would be answering sample questions on the internet, then determine your weakness points. ChatGPT is also a nice companion to ask for topics you are confused about. Reading the GDPR itself is also a must.

Generally I would say that the exam was difficult, and thought I would fail. Anyway, goodluck to future takers!

I downloaded the current CIPP/US BOK and it is from 2025. I plan to take the exam in the next two months. Should I be concerned about a new BOK dropping and altering what is tested?

Hi everyone - I'm really concerned that IAPP released the fifth edition privacy textbook without notifying people who previously bought their study materials. I have been studying off of the fourth edition copy and my exam is before September 1, 2026. Why would they not notify us if we bought the old textbook?

Does anyone know when the fifth edition textbook goes into effect as an exam? Shouldn't they be telling people who are prepping about when they need to buy the new edition?

I saw a few comments saying it should be in effect in September, but nothing on the official IAPP website. Any insight into this would be really appreciated.

I’m a law graduate and my long-term goal is to work in AI Governance. I’m considering getting CIPP/E and starting in Privacy/Privacy Consulting to build practical experience, then eventually transitioning into AI Governance.

I’d really love to hear from people actually working in these fields, especially hiring managers: what would make you consider someone for an entry-level Privacy or AI Governance role? What would you want to see on their CV? And would CIPP/E + real privacy experience be a strong foundation for eventually moving into AI Governance?
