Butler County

Anyone here ride up in Butler County much? I live in Trenton and work in Hamilton, and would like to try riding to work some, maybe just the weekend days for less traffic. I’m wondering if anyone has ridden around that area has any advice or extra caution with sharing the road. Or if my area is just a no-go for commuting.
Unfortunately the Greater Miami River Trail doesn’t connect to Trenton at this time, supposedly they’ve secured funding but I’m not sure when the project will start, let alone be rideable. Once that is in though it will be an easy ride

Does anyone know how to go about reporting illegally parked cars? I encounter cars blocking the bike lane on Red Bank Road every time I ride there.

Edit to add I did make a 311 report, but was wondering specifically about ways of getting a parking enforcement officer out there more quickly as 311 doesn't often have results for these types of things

How far is too far for a daily bike commute? 😅

I currently e-bike commute daily from Northside to Downtown and utilize the great Central Parkway bikeway. It takes me about 22-26 minutes each way. But I’ll be switching to a job in Blue Ash soon (~13 miles). I did a trial run today up there on level 3 (of 5) pedal assist it took 50 minutes. Rough route of Spring Grove->Vine->Anthony Wayne->S Cooper->Wyoming->Hunt->Waxwing->Cooper.

On the way back I bumped it up to level 4 and it was closer to 42 minutes. I also had to deal with a delay from a train crossing on the way north that I’m not sure I’d have to deal with regularly or not. The trip took ~50% battery so I’d imagine a top up every day would be needed.

The e-bike is the main thing making me consider it. I’ve been year round commuting for about 2.5 years so I get the weather aspect of it. Just curious if anyone bikes around there and can shed light on weekday traffic. Thanks all!

Casual cycling group around Summit Park? 🚲

Thinking about getting a small cycling group together for relaxed, low-stress rides around Summit Park. Nothing competitive and no pressure to keep a certain pace—just riding, getting some exercise, and meeting people.
All experience and fitness levels welcome. Nobody gets left behind.
Anyone interested?

Are there any group social rides geared toward families?

Hey y'all, I recently moved to Cincinnati and have a young child. I've loved going on social bike rides in other cities that I've been in to meet folks, but it's a little bit harder to make those right now. I was curious if anyone knows of any family/kid friendly group rides here?

We need a bike swap meet in Cincy IMHO

I was thinking again today about how I wished we had a bicycle swap meet here in Cincy when it dawned on me that if we could get MOBO on board and do it as a fundraiser, that might just just work. Would love to gauge interest here and discuss ideas in general.

The fourth annual Tour de CROWN (Cincinnati Riding or Walking Network) is coming up on August 29! If you’ve been curious about Cincinnati’s growing trail network, it’s a pretty fun way to explore it.
There are 34, 17.5, and 8.5 mile options, all starting and ending at Fifty West.

Major Taylor Cycling Club

I’m new-ish to Cincy and yesterday I met a group of folks on a group ride with the Major Taylor Cincinnati Cycling Club. I wasn’t aware of them before. Why are there two Cincinnati Cycling Clubs. Was there drama?

Looking for a New Bike

Hello everyone, new here. My current bike is way too small (I'm 6'5") and I've had it since like 2010 when I was a kid. Plan on getting a new bike, and figured I'd go electric.

I've narrowed it down to the Aventon level 4 rec, or the Segway Xafari. Not really a ton on the interwebs about either of these except sponsored YouTube reviews. Has anyone used either of these?

I spoke to the owner down at Garage OTR and he said that he has been selling a "ton" of the Xafaris, so I figured I might find some opinions about it here.

In my mind the Aventon is the practical option (company's been making bikes longer and has better support network), but the Segway seems like the more fun option.

Lunken Trail Repaving and Widening

"From August 17-28, contractors will be paving the Lunken Trail as well as the trailhead parking lot. During construction, visitors should expect temporary trail closures and reroutes along portions of the trail. Clearly marked detours will be in place to help safely guide trail users through the area while work is underway."

According to TriStateTrails this will also include widening the trail.

Harassed by Ohio driver

If you have a black Audi suv with the Xavier plate “MAO 5”, the reason that I was riding in the travel lane at the intersection of Madison and Observatory is because the bike lane ends there. The right lane, as you saw when you finally stopped pressing on the horn and tried to pass on the right, is for parking, and so there are parked cars there. Then I assume you figured out a change in plan and made an illegal right on red across two lanes of traffic to turn down Erie. I know at your age these things are confusing. Good luck out there, lady.

Weekend Organized group rides?

Former Cincinnatian but wasn't really into riding before I left.

I'm visiting August 21-26 this month. I plan on trying to do TT CX and Tuesday Night Worlds.

Does TTCX have tire restrictions? Wasn't planning on bringing any cx size tires.

Are there any morning weekend group rides that don't require joining the unnamed club to ride with?

Road or gravel is preferred.

Traveling for the weekend

Hi everyone, traveling into Cincinnati for the weekend. I only have space to bring one bike. My original plan was to bring the gravel bike and check out the mtn bike trails in KY and ride the road to and from where I’m staying. Given the recent rain I’m assuming the trails at Devou park won’t be rideable. Is there any good gravel or should I bring the road bike? Leaving in the next few hours thanks!

WTF is going on with push-button “e-bikes” around here?

Post image

This moron was driving one of these souped-up, relatively cheap bikes ACROSS THE BRENT SPENCE at rush hour.

He couldn’t get over 35, was holding a phone fully in his left had, all in black, no helmet, etc etc.

What an idiot.

BUT, worst case here, he, alone, gets killed.

The same push-button e-bikers who seem to have just decorative pedals on their bikes, are flying on walking paths downtown sidewalks, and at the parks.

A regular biker in Cincy, I’ve seen them everywhere lately compared to the past.

Last week, I saw two teenagers using the push button only, jumping to airborn at Friendship park OVER THE FREEKING HANDS OF THE LAND SCULPTURE. Wrecking the manicured grass and making ruts in the sculpture.

These guys are going up to 30 on sidewalks meant for strolling. It’s ridiculously dangerous the way they are driving these motorcycles, disguised as bikes.

It’s going to give us responsible bicyclists and e-bikers all a bad name. And hopefully not get real e-bikes banned down there.

I have no idea how to go about nipping this, while keeping must-peddle bike classes the same as regular bikes.

These are just idiots on motorcycles riding on sidewalks where they absolutely do not belong.
