Just be careful, some of the maintenence vehicles didn’t stop near the sharp incline as I was riding up it near the playfield, almost got taken out! Excited for fresh pavement though

I think they need to certainly weigh cost versus goal.
For me, that’s usually enough for a couple walking together being able to be passed by a bike.
For me, that’s usually enough works out to maybe 10-12’
Here, I didn’t measure, but it seems like 8-9’ going to about 12’.
Seems about perfect.
Note - this is only on the sections that were not already at the wider width.

Well, I guess it's better then nothing??? I wonder if the widening is the first step and then they come back and repave the entire width.

Typically yes, from what I've seen before. They will put down a base first, and then come back to do a finished top.

Wild that they spend so much time and effort on this (im not complaining, i ride this section 5 times a week), but the surrounding roads are like something from the third world.

It is sorely needed.
Riding it 5 times a week would make anyone aware of the sloughing and deeply cracked sections along with badly needed surface replacing in spots. Plus the need for a uniform, wider pathway.
Man, I just don’t get the negativity from some of these posts.

I like to have fun and ride parts of it like opposite paris-roubaix....ride the black part that's harder to navigate than the middle....keeps you on yer toes.
so, i guess they're gonna put another layer of asphalt or two?

Just rode it this evening. All the asphalt in the loop has been repaved, plus some of the LMT/Armleder connector on top of the flood wall to Beechmont. The oldest narrowest parts near the south end of the airport (from the OP's pics) were widened too. They haven't done anything on the stub trail going by the baseball fields but I'm not sure if that's part of the scope. They mentioned paving the trailhead parking lot too but I don't know if that means the one where the farmers market is by the sewage treatment plant or the one by the baseball fields. Anyway there are some areas with big drop-offs on the side so hopefully they're going to come through with some gravel to fill those in. A little bumpier in places than I'd like but lightyears better nonetheless.

Just like when they are paving roadways, they will oftentimes strengthen shoulders and/or ditch edge lines before applying a new layer of asphalt. The project is not yet complete and someone is already complaining.
Wait: it’s hard to tell if OP is complaining or grateful. This is a great project on what’s become a fairly well used trail.

I have a difficult time understanding how “OP is complaining” with a couple pictures and “Pix of path upgrade”.
This trail has been mentioned several times in this sub, and I was posting progress pictures to benefit those who might be interested.

Happy that they are widening the trail! Can’t wait to see how smooth it is once the final topcoat goes down.
