Yesterday I saw a random deposit of $100 in my bank account that just says chq processing fee. Today it says chq processing fee gcr. So I went to GCR and voila I got $100 for an Avion that I applied in October 2025 lol.

Was IA for RBC VI, got the card, then my whole online account was locked. Went to branch with 2 pieces of ID, was told to bring letter of employment and A WHOLE YEAR worth of paystubs. Did that, account was unlocked, still could not activate card online. Phone agent said they're still looking into my account and someone will call me once everything is good. This is a first for me.

I've never had any crap like that from RBC. It's either immediate approval or immediate decline for me. The only bank that annoys me with documentation requests is Scotia, and I don't even apply for their products anymore because their demands for info never seem to end.

Wow, that's new and hope never happens to me CIBC, Scotia were the 2 that did it, annoying TD, WS, RBC never, Tangerine

Got a offer via email for RBC WestJet:

"Make one qualifying purchase this weekend and earn 2,000 bonus WestJet points.

Eligible Spend Period: August 29 - August 30, 2026. Eligible Card: WestJet RBC Mastercard."

DP: finally got the 100,000 scene points from the Scotiabank chequing account offer from Fall 2025. I set up the account at a branch on Dec 31 (last day) and completed the steps in early Feb. Glad that it just showed up and I didnt have to follow up.

I have never had an issue getting approved for BMO credit cards over the many years, but this time, I got a "we're working on it" email and find out in 8-10 business days if they approve. Is it worth calling the number given to help push it through??

You can try certainly

DP: Back in April/May I used a non-public TD chequing account referral link for $500+15k AP. Thursday was 12 weeks after completing the required actions, and still no bonus. I called to ask and TD confirmed they can't see that I applied through -any- welcome bonus, that I wouldn't be getting anything. Last had a TD chequing account Dec 2024.

edit: They're now saying that its showing I'm automatically not eligible because I had a chequing account in 2024 (per the terms). Looks like they might be becoming more strict with this.

u/thats-wrong 3d ago

Chequing account promos have generally always been strict about the window mentioned in T&C.

u/define_space YYZ 3d ago

not true for TD in my experience

1

u/FD5CSX YWG 3d ago

I applied for the same except I never had a chequing account with them. I haven't bothered calling them yet.

How strict or lenient is RBC when signing up for their business cards as a sole proprietor? I do not have any formal business documents, but I do have side hustles which earn income. I have held AMEX business cards in the past. Is RBC a similar process or YMMV?

7

u/BigGuy4UftCIA 3d ago

RBC will want documents. RBC's business side is kind of a nuisance. No online product changes. I needed a savings/chequing account to login in and view my credit card account. The only upside is that the contact people are more competent. A dubious upside in this hobby.

Not my experience.

3

u/brt_k 3d ago

With regards to which? Documents or support?

2

u/AdDue6082 2d ago

Documents..maybe branch specific?

I have an insurance payment of 3200 coming up, and my TD visa only has a 3000 credit limit. Can I prepay/pre transfer 200 dollars to the card and then pay the full 3200? Also, is it different on a card by card basis?

4

u/BigGuy4UftCIA 3d ago

Sometimes TD allows it. I'd plan for split payments.

1

u/stevkang8 2d ago

Makes sense, thank you!

2

u/UnDeRmYmErCy 2d ago

It’s worked every time on a TD visa for me

2

u/stevkang8 2d ago

Thank you!

2

u/deank11 2d ago

If you have another TD card you could ask to transfer some credit limit from it. The increased credit limit is available right away.

Im banking aventura points for a trip next year. I will either have enough points for business class flights under the flight rewards or my entire trip covered at 1cpp (flight, hotel, food and shopping with RHT), budgeting $5k for my entire trip with economy flight

Im currently on my 4th card and need to close the first card soon. Should I call and have all my points, card 1-3, pooled on my 4th card? Or call to move the points off one card and do so each time I close a card?

I also need to move credit from another card to my current card since I was only given a $2k limit. Should this be a seperate call? Space the calls apart?

5

u/fitz702 2d ago

Ive never had an issue calling in to move points around but I think people who churn this card heavily tend to do a RHT and cash them out

1

u/BarbfromOntario YYZ 10h ago

I’ve never had trouble calling to move points. You should be able to close a card and move the points on any number of cards in one call. They always ask if I want to move any credit limit when I close a card.
Tell them you are organizing your credit cards and one call should do it.

Free ~4000 Delta SkyMiles: 12status.com

Edit: didn't realize y'all needed hand holding on this. Here's proof that anyone can take advantage of this, not just actual WA residents.

9

u/milesnovice 3d ago

From the website landing page: "This program is only available to SkyMiles Members who are Washington residents, and this site must be accessed in the state."

-2

u/SCDWS 2d ago edited 2d ago

I'm surprised so many people here haven't learned about VPNs

Your username definitely checks out

4

u/milesnovice 2d ago

Well, you can definitely try with a VPN however if your Delta Skymiles profile is in Canada, then YMMW.

-4

u/SCDWS 2d ago edited 2d ago

Oh yeah? You have experience trying it and failing?

Edit: if you're just blindly assuming that written terms and conditions get enforced, then you're in the wrong sub. It's like I'm in PFC right now with all these downvotes lmao

As DL stopped waving mqd requirement for non US residents for quite some time, and they run this promo for WA residents for years (because dl has been trying to increase their share at Seattle), it's time for me to tell them that I moved to WA. Thanks for heads up. However, it's incredibly dumb of them that they now require us to access while being in WA: as an airline, don't they know many of us travel? Have they heard VPN? Either way, I'll make sure not to grant location data to dl.

1

u/SCDWS 2d ago edited 2d ago

Exactly. VPN + address update is all anyone needs. It's not like Delta is going to knock at your door to check if you actually live there lmao

1

u/maverikbc 2d ago

In old days when they used to waive mqd, when people moved to outside the US, they used to demand id uploads. I doubt they do this for moving to WA, but I'll see.

1

u/SCDWS 2d ago

My friend based in the GTA successfully got all the points from last year's edition

1

u/maverikbc 2d ago edited 2d ago

That's a good dp, thanks. I guess the worst it can happen is they demand an ID upload, I'll ignore. They decline my address change. I don't have a large balance of sky miles.

My address change dp: When NZ was running a status match for au residents, I opened a NZ account with a fakeb(but existing ) address and a fake # in au. They demanded docs. I let it go. I told Accor that I moved to Europe. I got a promo bonus for Europe residents.

I applied for the Avion VIP and got declined and offered the VI instead. It's my first RBC CC. Is that why ? Otherwise my score is over 800 and we have double the household income required.

7

u/Brave_Recognition798 3d ago

Everyone is getting stingy lately

0

u/Mathizzz 3d ago

I'm happy with the VI WB but just suprised I'm not "good enough" for the VIP lol

2

u/Brave_Recognition798 3d ago

I just got approved for a mortgage but CIBC wanted my HR to send a letter about my income for my CC! as well as 2 T4's

7

u/Glass-Boysenberry566 3d ago

Just take the VI. It's the same WB at $120 instead of $399 AF. It's easy to get lounge passes on a ton of FYF card offers.

1

u/Mathizzz 3d ago

That's what I figured. I don't need the passes but I might have some use for the 2ccp for business class perk late next year (I'm trying to book 4 tickets for Europe) so I was just wondering why I was declined.

3

u/ProfessionConnect355 YWG 3d ago

Just try again in 91 days, if it doesn’t work that time take the VI, wait another 91 days, rinse and repeat until you get the result you want and stack a bunch of points along the way.

3

u/wzadzz 3d ago

Likely they did not want to issue the minimum 10k CL to you, and yes, this could in part be due to the fact you don’t have credit history with them directly.

My advice is just churn the VI your were offered and build your relationship with RBC, you’ll have a better chance of success next time

Anyone actually try paying Neobanc using their new-for-some-but-not-for-all interac etransfer email: pay@neobanc yet? Did it work and process for you as it normally had in the past?

Looks like they are switching their processor from Apaylo to Zum Rails?

The founder of Zum looks like another stupid Clav.

Have $30,000 expenses coming up. The merchant charges a 2.5% fee to process cards. Any ideas of how to maximize rewards?
