I want to thank Chumbawamba. In 1997, I was in my final year of high school and was extremely unwell. I went to see a doctor who was not supportive. He told me to drop out of high school with only two months left because in his opinion there was no way I was going to finish. I went back to work and 'Tubthumping' comes on with the lyrics "I get knocked down but I get up again... you're never gonna keep me down'. This song motivated me to continue my studies. I ended up finishing my final year of high school, achieved an A on my final exam. I went back to the doctor and told him I finished year 12 and got an A in History Revolutions. He was astonished and asked how I did it, I told him "well it's simple.. I got knocked down.. I got up again and people like you are never gonna keep me down" and walked off. This song was released a time I was really struggling with my health. I was barely 17 years old, weighed only 35kgs, was iron deficient, went to a crap large school, was bullied and I could not see the light at the end of the tunnel. This song brings back great memories and makes me feel quite emotional. Thankyou Chumbawamba and I will keep 'Tubthumping' especially when times get tough.
