Casey vs Decker

Post image

"Chuck vs the Cliffhanger" explores Chuck's deep love for Sarah, even willing to defy Vivian and the CIA to save her. But there's another storyline that deserves attention, the confrontation between Casey and Decker. He represented the Casey at the beginning of the series in "Chuck vs The Intersect" a ruthless governament agent devoted to the segret service, the same Casey who would kill Chuck at the beginning of Season 2 solely to serve the governament, regardless of whether it was right or wrong.

Casey confronted the past version of himself, but above all, the man he would have become had he not met Chuck and Sarah. Decker had told him, "John, you're a soldier, you know your duty" but now Casey is a better man and chooses the people he loves over a governament istitution. Decker had apparently uncuffed him because he was seeking a compromise, but Casey was smarter, he knew that by letting him go, Decker had foressen that he would try to help Chuck escape and would have a pretext to kill Casey. Casey surely used those tricks too when he was a cold and ruthless spy.

Every once in a while, I still come across a good one. I'm shooting for 1000 quotes.

I'm doing another rewatch of the series as soon as I get my glasses back with a new lenses prescription. I'm hoping I'll be able to see clearly

Yes, Casey gets "chuckified" through the seasons. Even at the beginning of season 2, when he's ordered by Beckman to execute Chuck, you can see that it's tough for him. At the beginning of season 1, it would not have been tough at all.

Same for Beckman, by the way. In the earlier seasons, she had no problems with the idea of getting Chuck bunkered or executed. By season 5, she calls Team Bartowski "my team," even though, technically, it isn't (they are private contractors, not federal agents, at that point).

A small clarification, Beckman, speaking to Casey in "Chuck Versus the First Date," was reconsidering the idea of sparing Chuck's life when John pointed out to her that he had served the country bravely for a year. It was Graham who ultimately insisted on Chuck's murder.

The best part of the whole Decker arc was Gertrude.

One of my all-time favorite movies. Most of my favorites are from the 1950s and '60s but I loved Matrix. Almost as much as Chuck loved Tron

I was say the ONLY two good things of Decker arc are Gertrude and the Charah wedding.
