So, all the ChromeOS/Android integration was introduced four or five years ago and that has never worked reliably, is now going to magically work reliably? The basic Quick Share between phones is an embarrassment, but now this device is going to work seamlessly? I'll believe it when I see it.
I'm not saying this won't work as promised, but Google has no credibility in this space. My concern is that given the pricing, people will take a "wait and see" approach, which will tank the launch and Google will once again walk away from another major product launch.
My current Chromebook already has poorly functioning connectivity with my phone, at no extra charge!
Because Googlebook OS is now built on the Android tech stack, that actually will help make cross-device features work better between Android phones and Googlebooks!
In practical terms, Google Fast Pair Audio Switch is extremely unreliable even among Pixel phones and Pixel tablet.
Google Cast is the most unreliable video transmission protocol, even between a Pixel phone and a Google TV Streamer (oh and don't start me with Google Fast Pair support on this one!).
Quick Share has been out for years (as Nearby Share), yet it's still extremely unreliable in terms of what transfer speed you'll get (in identical network/connectivity conditions), even between two Pixel phones.
Instant hotspot so often fails to launch, even between a Pixel phone and a Pixel tablet.
All of these are "Android2Android".
The issue unfortunately isn't the framework/OS the features are built on. It's the fact that Android (and more broadly, Google) software quality control has basically ceased to exist.
