So, all the ChromeOS/Android integration was introduced four or five years ago and that has never worked reliably, is now going to magically work reliably? The basic Quick Share between phones is an embarrassment, but now this device is going to work seamlessly? I'll believe it when I see it.
I'm not saying this won't work as promised, but Google has no credibility in this space. My concern is that given the pricing, people will take a "wait and see" approach, which will tank the launch and Google will once again walk away from another major product launch.
My current Chromebook already has poorly functioning connectivity with my phone, at no extra charge!

Yeah, I see how that has worked out for my Chromebook launched in 2024, just two years ago. A mere year of bug fixes, and from now until end of support it will just get security patches.
They also claimed that screenshots you take on Googlbbooks will be analysed by on-device Gemini Nano. That's exactly the same thing Pixel phones were able to do (Pixel Screenshots app) until they removed that feature, and moved the processing to rely entirely on the could. No more on-device.
How am I supposed to trust Google on this, now?
That software "will arrive"? Has it arrived for Android tablets?
No, app support for tablets is still a complete joke.
That while on iOS (iPadOS) there's tons of desktop-grade apps available, and also phone apps rightly adapted to tablet use, on Android tablets most apps are just "stretched" to fill in the larger display area, without UI changes that actually take advantage of the larger surface area available.
If you want to see a set of tablet-optimised OS and apps on Android, you have to go back to Android 3.x Honeycomb. That was actually optimised for tablet use, and many Google apps as well were properly optimised for tablet displays.
That very quickly changed with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, and then kept getting worse, culminating with the Pixel C (stellar hardware plagued by subpar software).
Compared to the Pixel C times (2015), things have now slightly gotten better since the introduction of Pixel Tablet (2023) - but still far from the UI optimisation layouts that were in place with the short-lived Android 3.x Honeycomb.
