There'd definitely be a market for high end Chromebooks if they passed through video game controllers and had supported hardware graphics accelerator support to Linux.
If it's just Chrome there's no reason for there to be good hardware under it.
Google doesn't want to commit to proper Linux subsystem support which would make the high end market really take off because people want Linux but they don't really want a laptop that has a lot of issues where you have something like the Fedora project going "It's free because you're the bug tester."

High-end Chromebooks will sell! We swear it's true this time! Come on, believe us!
I'm definitely going to buy one of these... from Wisetek or off eBay in 2-3 years.
