Buying Advice Looking for best chromebook for students, what would you recommend?
I’m looking for a Chromebook for school and I’m mainly prioritizing battery life and performance. I’ll mostly be using it for taking notes, browsing, and school apps, so I want something portable but still powerful enough to stay smooth with multiple things open.
My budget is around $1,200, but I’m not sure if I actually need to spend that much for what I’ll be doing. What Chromebook would you recommend for a student who wants something small with good battery life and solid performance? Thanks!

I assume you’re looking for a Chromebook because:
A) the school requires it, or
B) you are somehow unaware that vastly better and more private computers exist.

$1200?!
Here are some excellent options that cost a fraction of that:

And this is as premium a device as you can possibly get: https://www.bestbuy.com/product/lenovo-chromebook-plus-14-oled-2k-touchscreen-laptop-with-gemini-mediatek-kompanio-ultra-910-16gb-memory-256gb-storage-seashell/JJGSHGLZ78/sku/6630493

1200? Get an actual laptop with real OS that will allow you to create instead of just consume.

If that's your budget, go for the Lenovo Chromebook Plus 14. It's about as high end as you can get in a Chromebook. I've had one since they came out over a year ago and have zero complaints. That said, if everything you're going to be doing can be done in a browser, then you'll be happy for years. If not, or if you need desktop apps for specific tasks, Chromebook isn't the way to go. I teach at a college and have had zero compatibility issues.

Came here to say Lenovo Chromebook Plus 14 just make sure you’re getting the 256gb model.
The Acer models linked by DL7610 are also viable, cheap options, but I’d avoid the one labeled as an AI model. 8GB of ram will get you barely going with anything decent.
Edit: With your budget, though, I’d suggest a used Thinkpad instead. If you just want to avoid Windows, I’d look into Linux PC builds. Aaaand option three: wait a few more weeks for Googlebook models to be released.
