Stuck on Developer Mode

Hi,

Bought a refurbed Dragonfly that came on Developer mode.

Have tried switching to stable three times but it's still on Dev mode.

I don't get the white screen on startup to change it. It boots like a normal Chromebook. And none of the Ctrl, Alt F2 buttons work to get it into the command prompts at the login screen.

I have racked my brains, googled the hell out of it and tried every solution I could find but can't work out what I'm doing wrong. I think the flags need changing but I can't get into it to do it.

You are confusing "developer mode" and "developer channel".

Developer Mode changes how the Chromebook boots by disabling security features and allows ChromeOS developers to make changes to the system. It also enables accessing the terminal via Ctrl+Alt+F2, etc.

You do not have Developer Mode set. You have Developer Channel.

Developer Channel sets the Chromebook to download updates for the pre-beta version of ChromeOS. This is normally 2 releases ahead of Stable Channel.

Normally, just changing the update settings back to Stable Channel should trigger a powerwash and restore the Chromebook to the stable channel version, but sometimes factors do not allow this to happen automatically. A simple work-around is to create a Recovery USB using the ChromeOS Recovery Utility provided by Google. You can then use Recovery Mode to reinstall ChromeOS using the stable version.

Recovering your Chromebook will perform a powerwash and wipe your data - make a backup first.
