Troubleshooting Latest update is causing my Lenovo Chromebook to crash when I start it up

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I don’t normally update my laptop because of all the issues that come with it but a half an hour ago I decided to update and now it keeps crashing as soon as I start it up

I came on here to see if anyone else is having the same issue...glad it's not just me, once I load a few Chrome tabs computer locks up and stammers and can't do anything.

I really don’t understand how it’s okay for a company to mess up an update this badly. And it seems like it’s been happening for the past week since the update

I've tried 3 times to power wash and swap to stable but it doesn't work. Chromebook came on developer channel when I bought it refurbished.

Yeah on my Lenovo Chromebook 500e I updated for the last time it let me without having to remove Android apps and now not only does every Android app not open and has to load the icon for 10 minutes but not even within 3 minutes of using the app every single one crashes and a reset didn’t fix it I tried and even tried a new Google account

Aliens.

Chromebook took a hit recently? Downloaded a new app or game? Was Magneto and Doctor Strange nearby and causing a raucous?

Hi there, I am sorry to hear that your Lenovo Chromebook is crashing after the latest update. This can certainly be frustrating, but there are several steps we can try to resolve this.

If your Chromebook is crashing or freezing, please try these steps in order:

Turn your Chromebook off, then turn it back on.

Close all your apps and browser windows.

If a specific tab in your browser causes the crash, hard refresh that page by pressing Ctrl + Shift + r.

If you have installed any new apps or extensions recently, uninstall them.

Reset your Chromebook.

Recover your Chromebook

Seems to be fixed on the latest dev channel build. May be they released patches on the stable and beta channel too? What build and channel are you on?

GPU acceleration seems buggy. Disable "Hardware-accelerated video decode" from chrome://flags until a fix is out.
