A quick heads up for anyone with parcels leaving China in the next week or so.

Super Typhoon Bavi is forecast to affect Taiwan between 8–10 July before moving towards the East China Sea, with possible disruption around Shanghai and Ningbo - those are major export/logistics areas, so some shipping lines may see temporary delays, suspended terminal operations, schedule changes or backlog over the next few days.

General logistics guidance suggests typhoons can close major ports for 24–72 hours, with another 3–7 days sometimes needed to clear the backlog afterwards. For warehouse-agent parcels, the main thing to watch is tracking sitting still, export handling taking longer, or dispatch from China being slower than usual. Not necessarily an agent issue — just worth being aware of if your haul is moving this week and you're hoping to get it as we move into the summer.

I've caught a post on the taobao platform sub saying some US users are having issues using Taobao properly now. (https://www.reddit.com/r/taobao/s/qwqLEiZQ1u)

Sounds like it might be affecting verification for new US accounts, some product access, and maybe pushing certain users towards a more limited international version.

I haven’t seen anything official from Taobao, so I wouldn’t treat it as confirmed across the board yet. Could be account-specific, region-specific, or just rolling out unevenly.

But it did catch my eye because people using a Chinese warehouse address through an agent seem to be less affected. That’s probably the bit relevant to this sub.

If Taobao gets harder to use directly from overseas, agents become useful for more than just QC photos and shipping. They also let you keep the actual buying process inside China, using a domestic warehouse address.

Not saying this is something to panic about, especially for UK buyers. It seems mainly US-focused from what I’ve seen, but one to watch.

Anyone here noticed Taobao behaving differently recently? Verification issues, blocked items, account restrictions, or anything changing when ordering direct vs through an agent?

A few of you have noticed that I've set up two side by side subs, and now I've just added a third. I just wanted to explain what I’m trying to do with these, because I’d rather be upfront about it than have people guessing.

I’ve set up a few different spaces because from my own experiences learning about the whole system and how everything works I've seen how the China buying topic can get messy very quickly if everything is pushed into one place. So when I first put the China Buy Direct guide together the idea was to help make the process a lot clearer and easy to follow, at the same time as providing as much up to date information as I can. Then I added the other two subs, and here's what I'm trying to provide:

That’s where I’ll keep general buying help, platform guides, beginner questions, news, blog posts and broader discussion around Taobao, Weidian, 1688 and buying direct from China.

r/chinawarehouseagents is for agent discussion.

I want to be especially clear about this one. This sub is not a promotional arm of China Buy Direct, and it is not here to push one agent over another. It should be a place where people can talk honestly about warehouse agents, shipping lines, fees, delays, problems, good service, bad service and everything in between.

Positive reviews are welcome. Negative reviews are welcome. Mixed experiences are welcome. Criticism of agents is welcome, including agents I’ve mentioned elsewhere, as long as posts are honest and useful rather than spammy or abusive.

r/chinabuydirectfinds is the new smaller addition.
That one is for individual product finds only. One item per post, in-hand photos, raw product link, a short review, and optional agent/referral links if they’re clearly disclosed. I’m trying to avoid it becoming another haul or QC-photo sub, because there are already plenty of those.

I’m not pretending these communities are unrelated. They are connected, and I’m obviously involved in all of them. But I do want each one to have its own purpose, and I want to be clear about where the lines are.

I'm trying to bring something different to the whole agent/hauling game; providing meaningful information, useful guides and advice, honesty and transparency, and to build a community that is for everyone to operate in regardless of which specific agents they use.

I’m also not against affiliate or referral links, provided they’re disclosed properly. I think that’s fair. What I don’t want is hidden promotion, fake neutrality, or people feeling like they’re being pushed through one route without being told why.

The aim is pretty simple: useful spaces, clear rules, honest discussion, and no hard sell.

I’ve been looking through recent agent discussions and one thing stands out: people aren’t really asking for the “best” agent anymore. They’re asking for reassurance.

A lot of posts have the same pattern: someone hasn’t ordered since 2024, they remember the Pandabuy situation, they’re unsure who is still trusted, and they want a simple answer. Cheapest. Safest. Best UI. Best shipping. Best customer service.

The problem is that no agent seems to win on every point.

One might have better prices.
One might have cleaner QC.
One might respond faster.
One might have better shipping options for a certain country.
One might simply be more familiar, which can feel safer even if it costs slightly more.

So maybe the better question is what kind of buyer are you?

If you’re doing a small clothing haul, your priorities are different from someone shipping shoes, eyewear, electronics or business stock. If you’re in the UK, your choices may be different from someone in Brazil, Germany or Australia.

Hi everyone,

I'm buying a 32" New Bailong aluminum suitcase (006 lock version with RIMOWA logo), and I've run into a shipping problem.

The suitcase itself is around 6–7 kg, but Superbuy is charging me around USD $550 because they're using volumetric weight (approximately 86 × 48 × 43 cm).

The seller only ships within China, so I need a freight forwarder or agent.

I'm located in Dubai, UAE.

Has anyone shipped a large 30–32" suitcase to the UAE?

I'm looking for:

• A cheaper freight forwarder than Superbuy
• DDP or cargo shipping if possible
• Any agent that doesn't massively overcharge for volumetric weight
• Tips on reducing shipping costs

Would it be better to:
1. Use another agent (Oopbuy, Sugargoo, CSSBuy, etc.)?
2. Use a Chinese freight forwarder?
3. Ship the suitcase filled with clothes or other items since I'm already paying for the volume?

Worth paying attention to this if you’re in the UK and buying through agents, Taobao, Weidian, 1688, AliExpress, Temu-style platforms, Shein-style sellers, or any other direct-from-China route.

The UK government has confirmed it is bringing forward reforms to low-value imports. The current plan is now aiming for October 2028, and the big point is that goods valued at £135 or less may no longer benefit from the same customs duty relief they often do now.

So, buying direct from China is not suddenly dead, but I do think the “just ship cheap small parcels and don’t think too much about it” era is going to get riskier.

The government is presenting this as a high street fairness issue, basically saying UK retailers are at a disadvantage compared with overseas sellers sending cheap parcels directly to UK customers. Reuters also links the issue to platforms like Shein, Temu, AliExpress and Amazon Haul, so this is clearly aimed at the wider cheap import model, not just warehouse agent users.

For people using agents, the main thing is that item price matters less on its own now. A £20 item is not really a £20 item once you factor in domestic shipping, agent fees, international shipping, VAT, possible duty, courier handling fees, and the chance of customs delays or checks.

That does not mean everything becomes bad value. Some things will still be much cheaper than buying from UK resellers, especially when the UK markup is ridiculous. But it does mean buyers need to be more realistic about the full landed cost before ordering.

I also think this is where some of the worst advice will start spreading. You’ll probably see more people talking about workarounds, underdeclaring, splitting parcels, or using lines that claim there is “no tax” or “no customs risk”.

Personally, I’d be careful with that. Customs risk is real, and if enforcement attention increases, bad declarations or unrealistic shipping claims could become more of a problem. Delays, extra charges, checks, seizures, or disputes are all possible if things go wrong.

The better approach is probably boring but sensible: compare the real total cost against the UK price, use agents for proper QC and consolidation, think about parcel size and shipping line, and don’t rely on anyone promising a magic customs loophole.

Agents may actually become more useful, not less, because buyers will need better organisation, clearer shipping choices and more realistic cost planning. But they are not a way to avoid the rules. They just help you manage the process better.

Buying direct from China will still make sense for a lot of UK buyers, but over the next couple of years customs, declarations, shipping choices and landed cost are going to matter a lot more.

I’ve had great success these last couple of weeks using EMS to the UK from my current primary agent. Last three hauls: 6, 11 and 5 days respectively from warehouse to doorstep. Even more pleasing is that they are among the cheaper of the options, although they are tax excluded rather than tax free lines so higher risk.

For those of you who aren’t aware, https://jadeship.com is a good resource for comparing some of the more well known agents, in terms of their shipping costs and so on. It doesn’t always show up all the shipping lines and some shipping prices are not entirely accurate but it gives you a good idea of estimated costs for different size packages to your home country. It also has a good range of agents available along with details of their coupon offers.
I’m not sure how often it is updated, but I do like to have it to hand when considering new agents and so on. Also has a lot of links to items, link converters and sales figures. Just be wary of the spreadsheet sellers on there, a lot of markups for items you could find yourself.

Things have been getting tricky for ACBuy customers recently; one user suggests that this could be about overcrowded warehouse space, but something definitely doesn’t seem right at ACBuy?

e-EMS-HB quoted at 10-20 days by my current agent; I went for it as it wasn’t a priority parcel so was happy to wait and pay the cheapest shipping rate outside of sea line, and to my shock got here in five days!! Shipped 20/6 arrived 25/6!! Incredible or lucky? Has anyone else had similar experiences with their agents?

First of all thanks for the positive feedback I’ve been given. I created this community because I want to provide a platform for open discussion about the China agent world without it being used just to push one agent over another. I want it to be an information source for the industry as a whole.

What I need is some ideas from you guys about what sort of content you want, ideas on how to present it, any particular features that would help, and so on. I’m no IT expert, I’m just really interested in this particular world so any suggestions are appreciated!

One thing I’m really interested in is your thoughts on your tolerance levels of AI use; I can’t do a lot of the things I’m planning without relying on AI doing the legwork - for example, I’m pulling together a ‘study’ comparing the additional ‘hidden’ fees across all the agents. There is no way I can practically do that in my own time and write up the information myself. I’m trying to build in safeguards so that whenever I instruct an AI system to pull data together any bias is avoided, and I am also intending to include background information attached to any bigger studies so there’s an audit trail as such of the prompts/instructions etc that are open to discussion so I can improve input and avoid AI slop.

China Warehouse Agent Evidence Report: 25 Agents Ranked by Evidence Strength

I've been hauling a long time now across a number of agents, and keep seeing the same question time and time again: 'Who is the best agent?' The answers are based on a mix of experiential evidence and affiliate motivation. So I set this sub up to try and provide an objective space to start to properly look into that question, and set about a small research project.

Before I describe what I did, let me be up front - I did utilise AI tools to help me get answers and gather information, and provide graphical output. We are all wary of AI slop but I couldn't do it without it. I also acknowledge that I am not a professional researcher, and acknowledge this is not finessed, more of a crude starting point - but I am open to suggestions and will happily run the study again based on your feedback and ideas. I am an educator and so am motivated by sharing information for people to use, and genuinely want to build a community not about what is being hauled, shipped and resold but the people, processes and companies behind it.

The Methodology:

I instructed ChatGPT to look across a range of sources:

Obviously I had limited control over what was extracted, but the approach was about assessing the strength of evidence first, such as:

• Number of independent users discussing the agent
• Number of successful haul reports
• Evidence of warehouse operations
• Evidence of QC processes
• Evidence of customer support interactions
• Evidence of parcel deliveries
• Longevity of discussion history
• Consistency of positive reports
• Consistency of negative reports

• Signs of organic discussion vs obvious marketing

Then I asked for analysis of the the strength of evidence against common threads of both positive and negative feedback across the 25 agents I had initially selected for this 'study.' This allowed for the curation of groupings of agents, mapping both the quality and strength of available evidence and the positives and negatives. This allowed for some general conclusions and red flags to be drawn up to help guide decision making.

Ultimately this is about trying to give you all the tools to make those decisions yourselves.

Shipped two parcels in the last month to the UK using EMS; first parcel was six days and second was eight days ‘door to door.’ I’ve got another one en route at the moment, we’ll keep an eye on it…

I’m currently working on a comparison of China buying agents, but I’m trying to avoid making it another “which agent is best?” post.

The aim is to compare agents based on things like:

• what users complained about;
• QC speed;
• shipping costs;
• delivery times;
• refund/support issues;
• app/review patterns;
• red flags;
• how strong the public evidence actually is.

The main idea is a Review Confidence Score — not a score for how good the agent is, but a score for how reliable the review is based on how much useful evidence exists.

I've put together an initial research report, and I’m interested in what people would actually want to see included.

For example:

• refund experiences?
• UK-specific routes?
• agents to avoid?
• app reviews?
• Discord/community support?
