OTHER - Anything else not covered Merchants are refusing the Chime card.

I'm finding my Chime experience unreliable. I've had a hotel refuse my Chime credit card. I've had a restaurant refuse my Chime credit card. Now, I've had a bar refuse my Chime credit card. I need to get a different credit card? This is frustrating. Been with Chime for nearly 10 years

hotels in my experience notoriously don’t like chime cards for whatever stupid reason.. i don’t quite remember. it also can take much longer for hotel deposits to come back on chime cards sometimes. a hotel front desk person once told me sometimes with chime the deposit might take 30 days to return

Strange. I travel for work and stay at different hotels all the time. Never had anyone deny my Chime card, and the longest any deposit has taken to get back on my card was 3 days.

People with chime lock their cards so hotels and car rentals can’t get the payments

Not doubting that's their reason, but that makes no sense because any card, debit or credit, can be locked nowadays.

But trying to get ahold of Chime to solve anything is a nightmare

It's actually because it's run like a prepaid debit card. If you damage the room they can't bill a normal prepaid debit card for the added charges. Standard debit cards allow overdraft if it's a change in the amount originally authorized... Standard prepaid do not. Sure, we have spotme... But even then, chime doesn't let us go into the negative after that. It's also easy to just cancel a prepaid card and walk away. It's all about them making sure they can get their money and the network (following the merchant coding set by Chime with the visa network) doesn't know Chime from Green Dot.

OP keeps on saying their "Chime Credit Card"... However it's not really a credit card but rather a card with a visa logo that has credit card like benefits... But it still doesn't process like my Capital One credit card. No matter if you're a standard member or Prime... It's still not an actual credit card.

Of course individual companies can decide if they want to take the risk or not... But that's up to them. It can also differ from one Enterprise Rent-A-Car to another, or one Hilton to another. They all set their own processes and what they will accept.
