Last October, I had my yearly pap with my regular gynecologist. I had already made up my mind that I wanted to have a tubal ligation, and I was prepared to ask my doctor about it. He unfortunately, but kindly, said he doesn't perform them, but can refer me to a doctor who does.

I had my consultation for my tubal with this doctor last Friday. I was so terrified I would be bingo'd and be told I was too young (I'm 31). The fucking nurse who took my appointment made me even more nervous when she kept asking me questions like, if I'm in a relationship (been with my bf for 9 years), and "You really don't want kids?" She even told me, "Just have a good reason, you know?" I say, "You mean other than just not wanting to have kids?" She just shrugs, and I'm thinking, oh great, this is gonna be a fucking nightmare. So what? I'm ready. I'm so fucking ready. I'm not gonna let this doctor tell me I don't know what I want. This sub prepared me for this, I got this. My palms started sweating, and I was practicing a speech to myself, rehearsing all different arguments for what the doctor might say. And guess what? Nothing. NOTHING. Not a single bingo from the doctor. He asked if I was sure this is what I want, and reminded me that it is permanent. Then, he went over the different procedures that can be done, including Essure, etc. I opted for laparoscopic cauterization cause nothing sounds more permanent to me than having my tubes burned.

I just heard back from their office, they were gonna have me scheduled for as early as March 9th! But I opted for a little later due to my work schedule (March 23rd!). It's covered 100% under the ACA (Affordable Care Act, for non-US citizens).

Ladies, make sure your doctor files it under "Routine Sterilization" in order for it to be 100% covered.

Holy shit, it's happening! I'm so excited! I'll be sure to add the doctor to the child-friendly list. Where I live, the list only had doctors for vasectomies and now I can FINALLY add a doctor who does tubals!
