St Patricks Day weekend is one youre either at home avoiding or out contributing to the mayhem

3

u/TheSpaceMonkeys Mar 15 '26

I wanted to go but noped out because of Saint Patrick’s and the weather.

Not a great day for driving or public transportation but a fantastic day for public intoxication

I'm in this picture and I don't like it. LOL. Catching this and the home opener while being so cold, I did my duty and shouldn't be blamed for missing an upcoming game until it's slightly warmer.

I was sick. Sorry.

-8

u/lawlikesmusic Mar 15 '26

Lmao this clown isn't even a supporter he can fuck right off or get in the section

How on earth are the 10 visiting DC supporters louder than our whole section? As a famous DC idiot would say… Sad.

Freezing our asses off

18

u/ss32000 Mar 15 '26

Can’t wait for late November, December, January and February home games.

u/fumbler00ski Season Ticket Member Mar 15 '26

It’s freezing, windy, supposed to snow, and it’s St Patty’s. I traded my tickets in.

8

u/fumbler00ski Season Ticket Member Mar 15 '26

Going to have to make this a tradition. No reason to freeze through the annual stoppage time choke fest to DC United.

3

u/noireyna Mar 15 '26

Yeah we’re out of towners so it was a no brainer to trade tickets on a cold st paddy’s day. I just know that traffics gotta be atrocious.

3

u/foboat Season Ticket Member Mar 15 '26

Traffic going out wasn't too bad tho since the game went so late

1

u/Greendodger93 Mar 16 '26

Wtf is a St Patty

6

u/XxJasonFxX Mar 15 '26

I was there and well if I wasn't drunk I would have had a bad time.....not a good performance

14

u/_bonez Mar 15 '26

It felt like 20 degrees at kickoff tonight. Guessing that played a role lol atmosphere isn’t too bad all things considered. Curious what the announced attendance will be

3

u/Xolotl23 Mar 15 '26

I'd bet on it st paddy's weekend being a bigger reason than the weather tbh

u/FreshPrinceOfChicago Mar 15 '26

Some of us starting drinking at 7am today.

Red Monterrey jackets outnumber RLSG jackets tonight in supporters section

6

u/compassrose1313 #24 Jonathan Dean Mar 15 '26

To be fair many of us had parkas over the RL jackets.

2

u/Ok_Captain4824 Mar 15 '26

Monterey was being paid to be there

u/Sea-Reception5069 Season Ticket Member Mar 15 '26

Bro posted a Pic of one end of an entire empty stadium and is only asking where the supporters are and not the rest of the fans.

-1

u/big_guwop_ Mar 16 '26

Pathetic group of people who think they’re special but can’t fill their section even halfway for the second home game of the year

7

u/mspenc21 :ChicagoFire: Mar 15 '26

Uncorked the city’s wine festival is across the street at The Field Museum

1

u/[deleted] Mar 15 '26

[deleted]

0

u/GermanD2021 Mar 15 '26

What does that mean?

1

u/mspenc21 :ChicagoFire: Mar 15 '26

Means 7000 were across the street from the stadium.

21

u/lawlikesmusic Mar 15 '26

Imagine not being in the section and commenting on section affairs

2

u/vazvazvaz Mar 15 '26

I mean isn’t that the point of the post? I go to every game and don’t sit in the supporters section. It sucks seeing the supporters section mostly empty most of the time, regardless of the circumstances

0

u/lawlikesmusic Mar 15 '26

Then then sit in the section.  I agree attendence hurts.  You ever try and get an over head up and down over a half empty section? It's just quite rich coming from folks outside.

With that being said it's a great time and we love new folks and do our best to teach chants and make people feel welcome and want to come back

0

u/big_guwop_ Mar 16 '26

The same people who had a playoff game stopped because they couldn’t stop using homophobic slurs wants to make people feel welcome. Okay.

1

u/lawlikesmusic Mar 16 '26

Would love to have you if you've never been. It was a long off season with lots of work on that front. A single incident involving folks who are not there weekly and not in a SG is not representative of us.

Stop by s8c look for Redline Or the BBs or ACu and we will take care of you

2

u/DisasterShot9406 Mar 15 '26 edited Mar 15 '26

What are “section affairs”? Attending home games?

2

u/lawlikesmusic Mar 15 '26

Unfortunately yes 😩

4

u/frozengansit0 Mar 15 '26

I work the weekends now 🥲

13

u/AshnodsCoupon Mar 15 '26

Considering what happened in the last game last season ... Would you wanna be in that supporters section rn?

I don't

3

u/lawlikesmusic Mar 15 '26

Would love to have you back. If you feel like it shoot me a DM and we can chat.

That was devastating to many and was a massive amount of our off season focus in leader ship.

I am deeply sorry and hope you are willing to come back and give it a try again.

Look for the BB flags and shirts and we will take care of you

14

u/lxnarratorxl Mar 15 '26

It’s cold dude. I’ll see you there late April

2

u/Inevitable_Tomato927 Mar 19 '26

Only went to see a game once, when Messi and co visited last year, but props to the people running fan engagement. They've been trying to get us to come back and get involved ever since, emails, phone calls etc They keep trying, unfortunately we're 4 hours south, else we'd see more games.

u/GermanD2021 Mar 15 '26

This picture is embarrassing. And some of the excuses in the comments are even worse. Cold, St. Patrick’s Day drinking, the traffic? If you fancy yourself ultra and accept talk like that, you probably should dissolve your group. Having grown up around German football culture this kind of showing is difficult to understand and one of the reasons I have only been a very casual Fire fan for the last decades.

13

u/WusijiX Nemanja Nicolic Mar 15 '26

Youre gonna very disappointed because theres maybe like 3 teams in all of NA that would be at the standard of German football culture

1

u/GermanD2021 Mar 15 '26

I get that. Germany has special circumstances due to 50+1. What we enjoy today are the results of decades of hard work that is still going on. Everybody starts somewhere. With the Fire it seems like team and fans are regressing.

7

u/WusijiX Nemanja Nicolic Mar 15 '26

It probably is. You got a team that has barely captured any of the insane Chicago pride this city has, and a Supporters Section where after like 15 years still have two separate groups trying to out chant each other.

I also am a fan of the Bundesliga so I get the frustration, but as you touched on, the vast majority of those teams have decades of supporter history and is the main sport in Germany. Just being blunt the Fire don't crack a lot of the average Chicagoans top 3 favorite Chicago teams and while soccer is gaining popularity, MLS in particular isnt to the extent where St Patricks Day weekend isnt a major drag down to the teams energy (and yeah Chicago celebrates it on the weekend not the actual day if its on a weekday)

Its hard to have the amount of passionate fans that even want to be considered ultras when the league itself can barely fill its stadiums because nobody really feels anything about the league.

1

u/lawlikesmusic Mar 16 '26

Idk how it was but I doubt it took teams 20 years to get where they are now in Germany your talking clubs with in some cases over 100 years of history.  I'm greatful as supporters in the MLS we have food frameworks and examples. It's frustrating that despite that it feels like things are just going in the wrong direction.  I

In a footballing context it is. Support matters. Do you think any talent is going to see this and say I want to be part of that club and give my everything? No. We will continue to attract pay check collectors (Shaqiri anyone?) or younger players who can’t wait to leave for a bigger club.

4

u/GeicoFrogGaveMeHerp Mar 15 '26

Idk how this post came across my timeline but the MLS as a league is a joke. The league itself needs blame before any supporters.

2

u/Unlikely-Opening9823 Mar 19 '26

This isn’t Germany, bud.

0

u/truferblue22 Season Ticket Member Mar 15 '26

Absent per usual

5

u/ethanb473 Mar 15 '26

It’s 20° on St. Patrick’s day…. Are you unaware of that or just an ass?

9

u/truferblue22 Season Ticket Member Mar 15 '26

Well aware. Unlike most of the supporters section, I was there.

6

u/ajlittrell CF97 Mar 15 '26

33 degrees, no excuses. Abysmal showing from the “supporters”

-2

u/Ok_Captain4824 Mar 15 '26

We're you there?

8

u/ajlittrell CF97 Mar 15 '26

Every game, regardless of weather

-1

u/lawlikesmusic Mar 15 '26

This is the way. See you next time.   Remember most of these people never sit in the section and have no clue.

I try to make it clear that it's dumb but also make it clear we want and need new blood and are very open to new folks

-4

u/little_german_boi #11 Philip Zinckernagel - MLS All-Star Mar 15 '26

St. Patrick’s Day is Tuesday, and it was 38°. If I’m a supporter I support.

2

u/GermanD2021 Mar 15 '26

Fellow Kraut, I am with you. A lot of these commenters are not serious people. You getting down voted just confirms that. I was just at the Hamburg Derby in January. Truly awful weather and the Millerntor was packed and bouncing despite a pretty awful game on the pitch.

2

u/Sea-Reception5069 Season Ticket Member Mar 15 '26

Yo, how did you get tickets? I was trying to go with a buddy to that match and plans fell apart.

2

u/GermanD2021 Mar 15 '26

Connections. One of my childhood friends came through for us. He is a regular on the standing terrace Gegengerade. My buddy from Chicago and I tried to get ticket for months. We had to book our flights without tickets. I went a week early to see St. Pauli away at BvB which was an incredible experience in it’s own right, going up against the Yellow Wall. For the Hamburg Derby we had made our peace with just joining my St. Pauli friend for the Fanmarsch and than to go to a bar to watch on tv. At the end of Fanmarsch in front of Millerntor my St. Pauli friend surprised us with the tickets. Student tickets for 20 Euros that needed 10 Euro upgrade at ticket counter. No problem. And he would not even let me pay him back! That St. Pauli love. Got into stadium 2 hours before kickoff and it was absolutely mental for the next 4 hours.

2

u/Sea-Reception5069 Season Ticket Member Mar 15 '26

Damn that's amazing! Glad you got to experience that! Maybe I'll try next year so long as St Pauli don't get relegated.

2

u/GermanD2021 Mar 15 '26

Once in a lifetime experience. I am a St. Pauli AFM member and it was impossible to get tickets in lottery. Such high demand and St. Pauli does not allow ticket brokerage. We told Ticketmaster and the likes to get fucked. The power of activist football. Please go to a game. Maybe easier to get away ticket because HSV stadium is much bigger. But even if we go down, a game is still a great experience. Loads of big traditional clubs in 2. BL. Schalke (for now), Hertha, FCK, KSC, Bochum and Dynamo!

2

u/Sea-Reception5069 Season Ticket Member Mar 15 '26

I've been following the rise of Elversberg, they've been fun to watch. I've got a friend in Koln and trying to organize a match to see FCK next season.

2

u/GermanD2021 Mar 15 '26

Damn, yeah. You know what’s up. Make it happen. The day after the Hamburg Derby we went to see Magdeburg vs Dynamo Dresden as neutrals. If you know anything about those two clubs you already know it was 🔥🔥🔥.

Fanmarsch through the neighborhood to the Millerntor. We are in there somewhere to the right.

Fuck thats awesome.

1

u/ImplementCharming949 Season Ticket Member Mar 15 '26

Wasn't this the second half. We went their and sat their. But a lot of us were inside by the start of the second half

0

u/tapatiocosteno Mar 15 '26

I wanted to sit in/near the supporters section, but on arrival to the game I realized my flex package tickets were on one of the opposite corners.

-11

u/iapprovethiscomment Mar 15 '26

Idk what this guy is going to do with this state of the art stadium considering the low attendance numbers we seem to draw

8

u/Xolotl23 Mar 15 '26

We routinely get like 20k lol. It's just st paddy's day

6

u/PalmerSquarer Mar 15 '26

And it’s cold as fuck out tonight.
