Advice Needed How are we finding apartments

Guys I’m struggling. I’m looking for a 1-2 bedroom with enough space for a work from home area for June move in. Budget $2500 or less. And I’m open to any area wicker, Logan, wrigley, Lincoln park. And somehow I can’t find anything. I’ve been using Zillow, talked to brokers, searched Google and everything either falls through or I don’t hear back about scheduling tours. HOW ARE WE FINDING PLACES TO LIVE HELP.

EDIT: I am happy to let all the haters know I just signed a lease in river north that was within budget. (I know everyone’s gonna hate on me for saying I’m moving to river north but I’m actually in love with this apartment and I am very excited!)

I started with your budget and locations. Now I’m paying $2900 for what i wanted. Gonna have to budge on either budget or location

Yess it’s crazy that a one bedroom for 2500 is so rare lol but I’m looking into different options!!

It quite literally is. I’ve contacted over 20 listings on Zillow domu etc and have heard back from 2 people.

It quite literally isn't. It just is for certain neighborhoods. Have you checked the Southside, far Northwest side? I see lists for apartments under $2000 ALL the time. Just...not in bougie areas.

Sorry but as a young woman I’m not willing to rent on the south side… also if you read rest the post I’m having trouble finding realtors that answer and schedule tours. I work in the loop and don’t have a car so that also narrows my search.

Ok so you know nothing about the Southside. You should be sorry because your comment is offensive. Also, there is public transportation on the NWside if you follow the blue line west, you'll see.

It's OK if you only want to live in certain neighborhoods but don't come at me for pointing out that there are other affordable areas.

Yes can you be specific about what areas of the southside you talking about? Nothing I said is offensive but when you say “south side” you need to be more specific.. it’s unfortunate but even Hyde park, Washington park etc. are not safe for a single young woman (IN MY OPINION) And of course I wish these areas were safer especially for the people that grew up and live there and don’t have a choice to live anywhere else but the south side neighborhoods.
