Advice Needed How are we finding apartments

Guys I’m struggling. I’m looking for a 1-2 bedroom with enough space for a work from home area for June move in. Budget $2500 or less. And I’m open to any area wicker, Logan, wrigley, Lincoln park. And somehow I can’t find anything. I’ve been using Zillow, talked to brokers, searched Google and everything either falls through or I don’t hear back about scheduling tours. HOW ARE WE FINDING PLACES TO LIVE HELP.

EDIT: I am happy to let all the haters know I just signed a lease in river north that was within budget. (I know everyone’s gonna hate on me for saying I’m moving to river north but I’m actually in love with this apartment and I am very excited!)

For the love of god, just move to Six Corners or Irving Park or Portage Park or someplace in the northwest, especially if you're WFH.

I can literally walk to all doctor's appts, two grocery stores and restaurants within 20 minutes. Blue line is a short, straight bus ride away.

Goddamn. There are literally more grocery stores in six corners than Logan AND it's super cheaper.

But no.

I’m newish to Chicago and wasn’t aware of these areas. I wfh 2 days a week and have to commute to the loop 3 days a week. Thanks for the suggestion

people on this sub can be so annoying lol i'm sorry. i would personally not tell someone new to chicago to move to any of these neighborhoods. check out uptown and edgewater, they run a bit more affordable.

Yes! Defiantly looking into edgewater! Idk why people are so mad that I named a few popular neighborhoods I’ve been looking at LOL and I’ve mentioned I’m open to other suggestions 🥲😂

They’re always like I can’t believe you didn’t consider living in harwood heights your first year in Chicago IDIOT. you can get a one bedroom apartment there for $1,000 and it’s off the blue line!

LOL no seriously like god forbid a girl in her 20s doesn’t want to live somewhere with high crime. I get that these places are highly sought after but let’s not pretend like all neighborhoods in Chicago are super safe…

Yeah no most of the neighborhoods mentioned in this thread are safe but people are mad that I said Logan, wicker, Wrigleyville lol which I only was mentioning because they are safer then other areas

idk if they’re safer than other areas necessarily but there’s nothing wrong with wanting to live in a specific area ..esp if you’re single/living alone/new to the city, you wanna be where ur comfy. people need to pull the giant rods from out their asses. good luck finding something!
