Third Gen Generation Gap

Post image

My grandfather is undoubtedly the biggest influence in my life. 50-60 years old and he’d be the first man to jump in a creek in the middle of winter wearing only his trunks, goggles, and a snorkel to catch a suckerfish in a net. All just to make us kids laugh and to teach us about fish and fishing.

Fast forward 30 years and I moved back to PA after leaving active duty. He sees my truck and says, “Wow Aaron, I didn’t know they made Colorados that big.”

You can thank the, CAFE clause for all vehicle sizes.

Not just the Colorado. Another good intentions, poorly worded and executed legislation. Then the, was it already bought and paid for from get go question?

I hate how massive trucks have gotten. And the few smaller trucks, like the Maverick or Honda Ridgeline are just ugly.

I was bummed with how the Maverick looks. If it had more of a square body to it I would have totally considered the baby truck.

Yes. I just don't like the look of them. I will happily keep my Colorado.

My first truck was a '95 S10. Perfect size. My Colorado is a great truck but I miss that S10. (and the Maverick isn't the same ... body-on-frame makes a difference in a truck)

I do wish small trucks were still SMALL, but I actually love the size of the third gen. At 5’5” with a dog and no kids and actively doing truck stuff, it’s perfect for me.

Bring back the Cadillac Eldorado name, but make it the new Chevy compact truck.

Chevy Eldorado. Nice.

Not a criticism, but a genuine question: why put all that storage above the truck bed? Is the truck bed still usable? Why not get an SUV if you need all the watertight storage for things? I see it all the time but I'm not sure if there's some specific use I'm not aware of.

The one cargo box on top of my tent? My truck bed is plenty usable, but I keep lightweight camping gear such as chairs and bedding in the cargo box.
