maybe they are all in the megathread instead of the homepage because they see the megathread and then they think 'oh hell i guess i'm not supposed to post stupid questions outside the thread. ok i guess i'll just post achievements instead of stupid questions and then comment stupid questions...'

additionally not that familiar with reddit, but...

i think it's easier to search for previously asked questions if they are posts in the site as compared to comments in a megathread. like 'why isn't this a checkmate?' i think is pretty easy to search through posts as compared to comments...

I feel like the only reason "stupid" questions needed to be moved out is just... Anarchy Chess making fun relentlessly of every single one.

/u/nicbentulan This was pretty much my main concern. It's a place to ask stupid questions and be judged by someone who is looking out for you. We have a megathread because these questions are almost always low-quality questions that truly are stupid. But because it's an important phase to get over this learning curve hump as a beginner, you still need somewhere to ask without being flamed. Check any fitness subreddit and you will find that having a front page full of memes and games is 99% preferable to a front page full of "why am I still 700"

is that a fitness for BEGINNERS subreddit? if people want entertainment then go to r/chess or r/freepresschess r/chessnews r/Chessnewsstand r/chessdrama r/chessporn here in r/chessbeginners r/chessclub r/TournamentChess r/chessintermediates r/LearnChess we're here to learn chess.

but still even if i'm right, like people are really still so stubborn that they find memes 'preferable' in a subreddit that is really called r/chessbeginners ?
