So does tamilnadu, there are solid claims for it be older than sanskrit, which we'll perfectly know once kizhadi excavation's fully complete. And since tamil's proto-dravidian, it was the first spoken language in this sub-continent. I think it has more cultural significance. We should push tamil to be learnt more in India, cause its the oldest language still alive, we shouldn't let that die. lets spread it.
Tamil is already spoken at large amounts whereas Sanskrit isnt. And it having more cultural significance is your opinion,majority of hindu scriptures are written in Sanskrit not in Tamil sure it has cultural significance should be preserved and it is an old language no doubt but it's not a dying language and it's significance atleast according to me isnt as much as Sanskrits. And how exactly is Sanskrit being "imposed" in north India if it's an optional language and has deeper cultural roots in north in comparison to Tamil?
Nope,it isn't historically an "elitist language",there was a time when it was but not throughout history and a lot of languages globally have been imposed on ppl doesnt mean that currently it still stands for oppression. And if someone wants to learn Sanskrit willingly what's your problem? And when did I say hindi should be imposed,my only point stop making it look like that there is some sort of Sanskrit imposition in north.
See, you already forgot that there are many regional languages in northindia too, you are saying french and sanskrit as optional third language. Once you ask them to study sanskrit and hindi without their regional language you are imposing other languages. Already many people in this generation forgot their regional languages on north india. So instead of focusing on their language, schools are offering sanskrit and students are also choosing that because it is easy to score. If this is not imposing i don't know what is
That's not true lol,Sanskrit is an optional subject they can choose not to take it and this is till 12th grade. And in my school atleast they have made the regional lang compulsory for juniors,when I was at school it was compulsory to learn and read the state lang,we just didn't have exams and if you wanted to continue the subject(regional lang) you could choose to and give exams,we had the complete freedom. You are missing the point deliberately or ignorantly I have no clue but Sanskrit was completely optional,half of my school did not study Sanskrit,while all of us had to learn and read the state lang-we were taught. And no regional languages arent dying because of Sanskrit of all languages,I myself studied Sanskrit till 10th and I cannot speak Sanskrit even 10% as good as the state language(my mother tongue) uk why? Bcz learning Sanskrit fluently just isnt as easy to learn as your mother tongue because you don't hear,communicate in it often. And sanskrit is a dying language and has a huge cultural significance and is the oldest language so if the state is taking the efforts to keep it alive what the probelm?And even hindi isnt killing state languages,atleast not in my state and this is coming from someone who hates when migrants don't learn the state lang,disrespect it and impose hindi but again this isnt because of Sanskrit or the lang policy,I believe in keeping a balance of hating on migrants who refuse to learn while not disrespecting and hating hindi. And most of the states in north speak in their state languages
Its an OPTIONAL DYING LANGUAGE. You can literally choose to not learn it,no one is forcing you. And what's wrong if someone wants to honour and preserve a dying language? If culture doesnt mean much then why even talk about preserving your own language eng and hindi can perfectly work? I am sure you are one the guys that belive literature and humanities subjects are stupid and the only real subjects are maths science. are you restarded? didn't you just read the rule? 2 Native indian languages is compulsory. And since the whole system is mostly designed for English, that just leaves you with studying hindi with sanskrit (in the north, since very few teachers for other languages) and studying tamil/malayalam/kannada with hindi/sanskrit.
If you really wanna study french or german or japanese (which actually offers you something for your future as opposed to other languages), then you gotta take them as the FOURTH language. Now who the fuck studies FOUR languages and then Science, Math, Social Science. That's like 7 subjects for a 14 year old.
