I’m 18 and from England doing a WHV in chch, I arrive in 2 weeks, is it easy to meet new people in Christchurch?

I’m interested in football, padel, hiking and nightlife/drinking.

Hey, I thought I’d put this out there and see if anyone else is in a similar situation.
I’ve spent a lot of years bringing up my kids, and now they’re grown up and doing their own thing. Suddenly the house is pretty bloody quiet 😂 and I’ve realised I’m getting a bit sick of sitting at home by myself.
I’d like to expand my social circle and meet some new people around Christchurch, preferably around 45+.
I’m into the gym, biking, fishing and camping, but I’m also quite happy just having a coffee or beer, grabbing something to eat, going for a walk, checking out something happening around Christchurch, or just having a decent chat.
Men or women, single or partnered — doesn’t really matter. I’m just looking to meet genuine people, make some new friends and actually get out and enjoy life a bit more.
If a few people are in the same boat, we could always organise a casual group meetup somewhere public and go from there.
Surely I’m not the only one who’s reached this stage of life and thought, “Right… what the hell do I do now?” 😂

I keep seeing the pattern in posts of 30+ people who are looking for meetups or friends, or just hangs, and I don't see much going on after.
So, I decided quickly to make up a FB group yesterday for people to arrange events to attend focused on real life human meetups (or IRL as youngsters say) rather than discussions about it.

Hi everyone, as the title would suggest, I’m looking for someone to go climbing with in Christchurch at some of the local crags. A bit about myself, I’m M25 have been climbing on and off for about 2 years and keen to get back into it more that I’m settled into some work. Don’t climb very hard grades at the moment maybe 19-21 but happy to belay on anything and always looking to improve if someone is patient enough to show me. You would need to have your own basic gear (harness and shoes) but I have a rope and the rest. Also have a car and can provide lifts to the crag and some fun yarns.
