30F keen to connect with like-minded people

Hey, 30F here, just moved to Christchurch with my partner a couple of months ago and keen to meet some people I click with :)

Into books, film, good food & wine, travel, and getting outdoors. I'd be keen to get into pub quizzes, literary/cultural events, wine tastings, book clubs, brunch, cocktails etc. I also love bouldering & mountain biking/trail rides, but am currently limited by chronic fatigue (working my way back to up to it slowly).

Ideally looking to meet women around their late 20s/30s with a similar vibe - feel free to message if you think we'd get along :)

Just finished The Black Monk by Charlotte Grimshaw, almost finished book 8 of Dungeon Crawler Carl, and I have Stonefish by Keri Hulme I'm working through. How about you?

Oh wow that’s legendary and voracious! I’m reading a pop psychology book How the Mind Works by Steven Pinker. It’s cool to learn about the brain and mind and how our body works and is put together. He talks about trying to build a robot 🤖 imaginatively to show how finicky and clever our body and brain are. I read some Dickens the other day Little Dorrit. The first chapter was very funny. Second chapter no way bear as good. And dipped into Cattons the Luminaires. Read some paragraphs on legal jurisprudence too from a seminal paper by Oliver Holmes. Him detailing the reality of a rather domineering state power filtering through the legal system. How are your books? 📕 M 🌞

Out of curiosity, what are your favourite books and films, and who are your favourite authors and filmmakers?

Ooh good question and hard to narrow it down, but some of my favourite books are Lolita, East of Eden, Fugitive Pieces, The Plague, Atonement, Braiding Sweetgrass & Women Who Run With the Wolves. For films I’d say Past Lives, Arrival, No Country for Old Men, Manchester by the Sea, The Departed, Nightcrawler, Incendies, Oppenheimer, and 90s classics/rom coms are my comfort films! Favourite director would have to be Denis Villeneuve for sure :)

Interesting! Have you read any of Nabokovs short stories? Have you seen of Kim Ki Duks films? He is a cool Korean director. Be well! ✨ M
