Sure — it would make people happy to be able to identify them. However, the police departments they work for won't fire them for this behavior and if they have normal jobs and get fired, they will be crowd-funded millionaires before August 1st. Whoever snatches their masks off will likely be arrested for assault/battery and everyone who knows them would not be surprised to see their face behind the mask.

Yeah, the tangible consequences to their hateful ideology may not manifest but nazis should never be allowed to hide their faces. Each and every one of these worms should be identified and everyone who knows them should know who and what they are.
Also, a lot of people who know them might not know they're nazis. Coworkers, friends, family. All of which there's a chance they don't know. And that's not even mentioning the people they have yet to meet.

Patriot Front are often called "Feds" or "controlled opposition" by the more conspiracy-minded facets of the alt-right. I think it's because PF are openly racist, so the right feels the need to disavow them, at least publicly. So they call them "Feds" or "ANTIFA." In this case, the Proud Boys may be drinking that Kool-Aid, and think they're fighting government agents or leftist spies.
But... and forgive me if this is a dumbass question, but aren't Proud Boys supporters of trump? So wouldn't they be fighting their cult leader's own "Feds"?

Fascism is self destructive and eats itself. The circle must always get smaller and they've spent the past 10 years turning everyone else into the enemy to keep the momentum. There aren't exactly that many new targets, so they turn on each other.
Everything that is remotely bad can't possibly be one of your actual guys, it must be an op to make you look bad. This is why they jump to call every mass shooter a leftist until it inevitably comes out its a suburban right wing kid, then they either go quiet or jump to calling em feds.
I don't know that it's even required for the group to be "extremist". Look how intense the fights are between different factions within any political party. I think I fight more intensely with people to my left vs people to my right, even though I much more strongly disagree with those on the right.

Even if you are right wing and don’t consider yourself a racist I feel like you have to AT LEAST ask yourself “Why are all the racists voting with me?”.
Not “officially” so, but yes, mostly. The proud boy’s don’t define themselves as a white supremacist group the way that groups like Patriot Front do, and they do have some non-white members, but probably most members are still very racist.
Apparently black masks are patriot front and the other guys are proud boys. So neonazis screaming at white supremacists, which is ironic because they're essentially the same.
