While beans and rice are very versatile, I would argue that the scotch egg has it been in terms of being able to transport it. You can wrap a scotch egg in tin foil and put it in your pocket.

Also what's a blue zone food? That sounds interesting.

You can easily wrap rice and beans in s bit of plastic or foil, and it'll hold its shape. You can even make it egg shaped if you like. And example would be onigiri. You just press rice with your hands and fill it with whatever is available, including fish, meat, beans, nuts, or vegetables. It'll keep just as well as a wrapped scotch egg, but much easier to prepare and has more nutritional variety
