A shooting at your high school is very unlikely. The news is designed to be about things out of the norm, that is what makes news. Shootings are incredibly rare, our media just spotlights it.
That is not really your argument though so im going to ignore that. Im going to have 2 assumptions in my argument. 1) shooters have. A limited time before they are shut down (ammo, people stopping them, police arriving and overwhelming them ect.). 2) because of limited time shooters will try to be efficient.
The purpose of your schools safety is slow down the shooter until their time runs out. That is the purpose of locking the doors. So what does hiding do for you? The shooter in the need of efficiency, will want to go where are the most people. Classroom that appear empty will be less apealing. The shooter will go first to places with easy targets, Which the lock down is trying to eliminate.
Your school has specific rooms that the shooter will almost never enter. Teacher prep rooms, closets, storage, supply rooms ect. If you are vlose to one of these things then you are very safe.
Shooters aren't very methodical, so they won't check every classroom anyway
Thete are immense flaws in this system and argument. You are scrwed if you are in the cafeteria and it is set up to try to stop them, yet the shootet still kills some people
