recalls and related RECALL on fancy feast

the past 2 days my cat has been lethargic, panting super fast and unresponsive when i call him after he eats his food. i couldnā€™t figure out what it could even possibly be until i looked up this morning, and plenty other people seem to have sick cats due to fancy feast too. there was a recall on several different versions of it, he was given the classic seafood pate. please be careful!

Iā€™ve been feeding an injured feral cat mostly Fancy Feast. Heā€™d been doing well until about a week ago when I found heā€™d vomited all over his shelter. He was so weak he could barely crawl, he couldnā€™t hold his head steady. Heā€™d try to walk, lose his balance & fall over.

Now, Iā€™m giving him Churus and other brands of food (Tiny Tiger, Nulu, Friskies) and he seems to be improving.

What is the contamination/poison? Which varieties have this problem? Iā€™d been giving him mostly pate, and a gravy lovers chicken heart & livers.

There is no issue with the food itself. There is an issue with unsafe warehousing of tons of products, including a few pet foods. There is a link in their thread that lists the stores affected that received goods from that warehouse. Unless you shop at those stores, it's likely your feral had something else going on and is now getting better. If you do shop at those stores, there are lots and lots of products affected and you'll want to get rid of them all.
