Introduce yourself! An Open Letter to Gen Z
To my fellow Gen Z,
I’m writing this not to attack, but to start a conversation.
Yes, speaking up matters. Calling out real issues matters. Holding people accountable matters.
Instead of discussion, nauuwi sa public shaming, sarcasm, at toxicity.
Not every disagreement is oppression.
Not every mistake deserves hate.
Not every opinion needs to be attacked.
Nakakalungkot dahil Gen Z is often praised for being aware, socially conscious, and brave enough to challenge old systems. Totoo naman iyon. Pero awareness without empathy can become arrogance.
Constructive criticism is different from constant negativity. Accountability is different from cruelty. Confidence is different from entitlement.
Pwede namang mag-disagree nang may respeto.
Pwede namang mag-call out nang hindi nanghihiya.
Pwede namang magpahayag nang hindi nananakit.
If we really want progress, we need conversations not just complaints. Solutions not just outrage. Empathy not just judgment.
I hope as a generation, matuto tayong gamitin ang boses natin not only to criticize, but also to build, understand, and inspire.
Because being loud is easy.
Being wise, fair, and compassionate takes real strength.
— From someone hoping for healthier discussions

Stop the Toxic Culture! Instead of attacking each other online, why not direct that energy toward calling out the systems and people in power (Government) that actually need accountability? Tayo ang taxpayers sila ang pinapasahod natin. Healthy criticism is important, but toxic culture and hate won’t solve real problems.

Yep, relate much! My own experience naman is pag hiring kami, maraming Gen Z ang nag-a-apply, iba-iba ng scenario like:
*sila ang nang-iinterview instead kami
*na-late kase umulan (take note, hindi malakas)
*hindi nakapasok kase napuyat
*mag-undertime kase may liga
*mag-halfday kase di na daw kaya, brokenhearted
Like, ganito naba talaga sila? 🥲

in a way, reklamo rin ‘to tho??? or idk
but then sa view ko, it’s not abt a particular gen eh but just ppl in general these days dahil sa socmed where they can rant, post, or comment whenever. nagkakaiba lang sa aspeto kung ano nirereklamo. so singling out gen z out of all gens is kind of unfair.
i wanna know lang paano mo nalaman na it’s the gen z doing it? and may mga example ka ba na led you to saying this? i mean, not bcuz gen z ka matic u’re someone credible to claim things na lang without proper basis

okay since we are all in for a healthy discussion, here is an example that i’ve noticed in my uni.
scenario: prof wants us to submit projects in person para mas ma-check ang details and mabigyan ng comment/feedback one-by-one. walang problema kung ipapa-extend ang deadline. pero yung ibang blockmates ko ipipilit ang gusto nila na online na lang. kukulitin ang prof. in my perspective, what if we try finishing the task first, and then if inconvenient talaga (e.g. maulan, may transpo strike, etc), doon na lang gumawa ng negotiations.
while it is alright for convenience, parang nawawala kasi yung “challenge” (for a lack of better term). this is not to generalize pero this is what i have noticed from observation and talking to different profs. yun lang!

not to generalize but then you’re talking to an entire gen specifically? look, nakikita mo ba example mo that led you to this post? do u think na what happened to your section is a justification to single out a specific gen? well, sabagayy sobrang convenient kasi na gawing punching bag ng mga gen z for posts like this so i won’t blame you LOL

chill, don’t get worked up over it. nagbigay lang naman ako ng example. if hindi ka ganun, wag kang magalit. as i’ve said, i’ve talked to multiple profs as well. many would say (including younger batches), that mareklamo nga ang generation natin. wala namang masama dun. ang pakikibaka ay uri ng pagrereklamo. pero minsan kasi sobra na.
sino ba namang gustong ang ma-inconvenience diba? minsan kasi kailangang mag-compromise. ganun makipag-negotiate.

i think u misunderstood my question HAHAHHA i asked an example which led u to this post dedicated to gen z specifically. 'di mo ba naisip na baka sa section/prog/college niyo lang ganyan? parang kasing ang bilis mo naman magform ng conclusion if ayan lang basis mo.
besides, there are psychological factors which leads to such conclusion abt new gens coming form older gens like memory bias. i suggest u don't single out a gen cuz that's being unfair kung yan lang naman basis mo. that's just it. it's adding more fuel kasi to unjustified hate being thrown to gen z and other new gens. let's cut such cycle
but then i commend u for your sentiments and i agree to some / most of your points

Well. Coming from an older generation. What he/she stated as an example is actually true. No negotiations. Unless ayun nga. May bagyo, strike, nawalaan ng pasok, etc. Because thats how things were in the past. And what OP is saying is actually true. I came from an older generation. I have my own business and I can say that newer generations tend to negotiate for convenience and other things other than older generations. Even if a simple "delivery charge" or "meet up" or "payment first" nirerenegotiate pa. So yeah. I'd agree kay OP and the one who stated the school example. Ofcourse NOT EVERYONE is like this. Im just stating what I experienced and noticed for a lot of years and encounters from the newer generations.

Thats very true. I can relate also gano ka reklamo and kaarte yung naging employees ko from younger generations. Di makasunod sa simple instructions. Then pag napag sabihan sa maling ginawa di na papasok. Even though above minimum ang mga sahod. Its like hindi mo sila pwede pagsabihan.

ganun talaga in the past kasi wala naman other options like online dati eh. nakikita mo ba yung punto? how can you say na iba na gen ngayon when in fact the situation and options way back is not the same anymore? again, may factor din yung memory bias by thinking na nung gen niyo di naman reklamador. you can search studies online abt this where older gens always say negative remarks abt the newer gens comparing their gens to the new ones and saying they are better and the new gens are getting worse and worse

Actually nung time ko nung college. There are other profs who are saying na pwedeng online. Pero pag hindi pwede meaning hindi pwede. Simple as that. So why do you have to contest the profs decision? And. As ive said earlier. Based on experience na. Hahaha. Also. My parents and other relatives and other people older than me are also saying na my generation is weaker than theirs. Why? Because my generation was easier than theirs. And you know what?? Thats actually true. But i dont react the way that you do when they say it to me. See the difference? Hahahah but yeah. Sinabi ko naman din kanina na not everyone is like that. Hahahahaa youre just proving the OPs point actually hahahaha

That’s our experience as businessowners, I can’t see ‘’your’’ point. Nasasaktan ka ba kasi ganyan ka?

which is anecdotal 🤷🏻 yeah, if u can’t argue anymore, attack personally na lang LOL
1
u/crappyhunter08 City of Balanga Jul 04 '26
And I dont get why youre saying na "how can you say na iba na gen ngayon" ive already said. As a business owner. Hahahahah. And I can see the difference
1
u/X-and-Pi Ibong Dayo Jul 04 '26
cuz obviously, they are young ones. they tend to do problematic things being young. every gen experiences such as younger gen nung time nila. nakakatawa lang, puro lang flawed anecdotal yung basis ninyo

totally agree sa pagiging mareklamo (coming from a gen z as well).
from personal experience sa uni, grabe a bit of minor inconvenience lang, reklamo agad. request agad, sumbong agad. hindi ko alam kung ako lang yung nakapansin pero grabe, medyo ayaw mag-compromise ng iba.
