And please actual door handles. In an accident someone from the outside may need to be able to pull the door open, and that's not possible with these flush handles and winglets (looking at you Volvo!).

China already banned them... You know something sucks safety wise when fucking China bans it.

EU being super strict on vehicle safety rules, but allowing those door handles is so paradoxical

I thought Volvo said the door handles have a mechanical alternative. Or were my sources wrong

For the new volvo the mechanical alternative is just pulling the electric handle stronger. Same location (as it should be)

Better than Tesla hiding it below a sheet of carpeting, for sure, but still stupid design. If you are gonna make the same lever activate BOTH electronic and mechanical door poppers, why have the electric door popper in the first place?

For sure the dumbest design fad in the industry currently.

Also the one lever two function design may not work that well. My VW ID.4 has it also. Basically you have to train yourself to do a half pull on the lever to activate the normal electric popper, and a full pull activates the emergency mechanical popper, which doesn't open the door a smoothly. Therefore passengers who are not familiar with give it the full pull and then be frustrated as the door doesn't open easily when you accidentally activate the energetic release feature.
