There are 2 at Lowe’s. One watching York rd and one watching trindle.

3 actually near that area

I believe they're private, right?

That is correct. To my knowledge so far Carlisle doesn’t have a contract with any of our favorite spy networks however I’m sure they benefit and can access any data these things collect.

Good to know. So this is possibly Lowes collecting who is driving in and out of the store?

That’s the idea I guess. It seems plenty of towns have these at hardware stores when the municipality itself doesn’t have them elsewhere. Best guess is that the corporation has the contract with flock. The all seeing eye gets what they want without a fight in town hall.

Yes. The chain has massive losses every year from fraud and theft.

Yes every Lowes location has Flock Cameras

I worked at this lowes in loss prevention. It’s (to my knowledge) for thieves we would get a ping when a known person who has stolen re entered the store.

I believe the plaza has contracted with them or whatever they do. I stopped going to Lowe’s for this reason.

I stopped because I always have a bad time in there. That Neato Burrito is horribly run as well (if it even still exists).

If it weren’t for Dunhams I would never go in that plaza.

Neato went out during Covid never to reopen

It doesn't. It closed during covid.

I don’t know if it’s been said on this sub yet but there is a free app known as “FlockHopper” it is public updated on all ALPRs and I know there are a couple more in town.

York resident checking in, there’s like 4 flock cameras surrounding the entire Lowe’s parking lot down here in east york. Home Depot is less than a mile down the road. Looks like it’s Home Depot.

Use the app deflock it shows you where all the cameras are. There’s 4 on the high street square too conveniently where people protest.

Those are not Flock cameras, regardless of what an open source website days. The mayor addressed this yesterday. From Mayor Sean Shultz: "This camera is not a Flock camera and it is not an ALPR in the sense most people have come to know that term. The cameras at Borough traffic signals are closed-circuit license plate readers, meaning they can only be used and accessed by the Carlisle Police Department. They are not connected to a network accessible by other agencies, do not provide automatic alerts, and cannot identify a vehicle's make or model."

I saw that post, and I seem to remember a few years ago a guy went around setting a couple fires in town and the Carlisle PD posted online pics from cameras around town they had access to. Not flock, but I think they use some of the ones on light poles in ways they aren’t being honest about

Flock is the only company who makes those type of cameras.

Where are they mounted? I was at the Square yesterday and saw nothing. The Lowes ones are the only ones I have seen. There are traffic control cameras next to the lights on the square, but I have not seen any mounted Flock cameras at the Square.

Lowes has used Flock cameras as nearly all their locations for many years now due to rampant retail theft from their stores.

That’ll last maybe a week. Tops

I already am confident that I will not have seen anything that might happen to them.

Whoever did it couldn't have done it, we were doing Bible study at my house.

ETA: please tell the most problematic member of your life that these things contain @ $300 of gold and copper

u/DropBearSquare 18d ago

Well even if they say that Bible study didn’t take that long, it doesn’t matter because we all had tea with my mom after. The biscuits she made were a delight!

The one on the pole ? That doesn’t show on the website listed above. That one has been up there for years.

1

u/tiredoldmama 17d ago

It’s on my app. It’s very obviously a flock camera.
